How to donate on 18 Oct:
Gather your pre-loved items into a bag or box, no heavier than 20 kg, so it can comfortably sit in the boot of a midsize car. Then:
- Open the Uber or Uber Eats app
- Scroll to the Red Cross Clothing Drive image and tap.
- You should see ‘Red Cross Clothing Drive’ set as the drop off spot
- If you’re in an eligible city, the Red Cross Clothing Drive promotion should automatically apply, so check that the trip is showing as a $0 amount
Confirm!- Having issues or can’t see the tile? Head to the Uber App > Courier > type in ‘Red Cross Shop’ > Pick the first option shown > Confirm
Keep an eye on the app and meet the delivery person picking up your donation at the door, or kerbside if you can. T&Cs apply. See bottom of page.
FAQ
- The Uber and Red Cross Clothing Drive is on Saturday 18 October 2025, from 10 am – 4 pm (local time). The Clothing Drive is available in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.
- New Zealand Red Cross Shops need quality, sellable clothing and accessories.
- We’re not collecting household goods or furniture as part of the Clothing Drive, however you can donate these items directly to your local Red Cross Shop throughout the year.
- Any sturdy bag (ie. one that won't easily rip) or box that can hold your items will do!
- Only one free pick-up can be booked per person. The donation should be no more than 20 kg and able to comfortably fit in the boot of a midsize car.
I’d love to get confirmation on if this extends out as far as Lower Hutt. I’m in Wainuiomata and would love to participate, but can’t see any obvious avenue to ask Uber and it’s not clear from the terms and conditions.
