It can even better be with Plex & stremio + torrentio. I have it both connected and no more downloads and can watch everything on my plex. Best of both worlds.
I want to download the kids movies from torrentio for Plex. Stremio has been pretty good but occasionally it has issues with torrentio or debrid so having those films they watch on loop locally is really helpful to avoid hammering the Internet connection and getting the occasional buffering issue.
I run a plex server and a mixed mode household…. Fire stick works perfectly with it
A potentially stupid question: I have a very low end projector that can run Stremio, but not smoothly. Would running Stremio through a fire stick give any improvements?
What’s not running smoothly? If it’s playback first try setting the projector display refresh rate (or whatever it’s called on projectors) to 24hz as most TV and Movies will be 24 FPS.
If it’s the stremio menus and getting around the OS that’s slow, then a firestick will help here.
If it's like the magcubic projectors from AliExpress I'd suggest just not letting the thing near your network and only using a fire stick or Chromecast. Those Chinese android devices often have spyware or malware on so not worth giving access to your stuff. I got a HY320 and it's only ever been used with a Google TV device through the HDMI port for this reason.
Sorry, different topic, but how is HY320? I heard a lot of good things about this projector. Is it as good as it's reviewed?
It's fine, a bit noisy on the fan and had a few dust specs got in the panel inside but it's pretty easy to pull off the small cap and stick a cotton bud in to clean it off. It also is a bit out of focus in the corners, but these are all issues most of these cheapo units have.
At the price I paid it's good fun to stick out and project on the kids bedroom wall with some popcorn and have a cinema on a rainy Saturday afternoon. As long as you don't expect it to live up to your tvs resolution and contrast ratio you'll be happy enough.
I would also suggest in addition to using a streaming device you get some sort of speakers with it too. I'm using PC speakers and watching out for cheap powered bookshelf's to come along so I can set it up quickly and then take it away again just as fast.
