anyone has one of these? Hows the Google TV experience on these devices? Is the hardware powerful enough and software up to date?

    • I have the 55in the smart tv is alright. I tried to add a chromecast tv to it to make it better but it kind of gets over ridden by the default in built chromecast annoyingly. But it works, mostly used for gaming though.

    • I have the 55 probably an older version of this one since it's 3 years old now and yeah it struggles a bit when you first load it up but then gets to an acceptable speed after, the only reason you would really get one of these is for the Ambilight feature which I really like, looks amazing on games as well.

Can’t speak to this model but I do own a 65” OLED model that I bought a couple of years ago. Ambilight has ruined other TVs for me. I thought it would be a cool gimmick that I’d tire of and disable after a while but it’s far from it. The way it seems to make what’s on the screen expand right into the room with you is something that every single person who ever watches something on the TV in low light absolutely marvels at. I reckon $500 for that alone is worth it over any other 4K 50 inch

You do any gaming on this? I want to upgrade to a 65 in the near future and this sounds great for the gaming experience.

Not a gamer as such but I do have an Xbox and Switch which run through it and the ambilight effect is mint. When it comes to screen res/ refresh rates etc for proper gaming though I’m not the best guy to ask, sorry!

    • I second this. I love the ambilight thing too. Also super handy in the middle of the night as you can turn them on without the TV if you need lighting.

Wondering if this would be good as a cheapo bedroom TV, been looking into Hisense/TCL but at this price I'd be crazy not to.. right?

    • Yeah, a friend of mine just told me philips are crappy TVs but this price is just ridiculous aye. Comes with 24 month warranty. If you are furnishing the granny flat or you just feel another TV, $500 will do aye.

Make sure you can physically fit it. 50" is big for a bedroom.

No stock in Christchurch and really don't want to pay $70 for shipping :'(

    • Does click and collect work for something this big?

      • Don't see why not I was able to click and collect my gaming chair when they didn't have it in stock and didn't to pay extra

  • It's a really good deal, was eyeing it since I saw it on PB's deal page. No brainer IMO, before there was stock in 12 stores, but now it's just Henderson & Manukau. Picking up mine today, super excited.

I really want to buy this one but no stock in Hamilton.
PB sucks in this case as NL would move stock from one branch to other but PB doesn’t.

We bought the 55" a few months ago tor $629 and our one year old kicked it off the TV cabinet last week 🤦‍♀️

My partner loved that TV because of the ambilight, so we were stoked to this one come on special. We went straight to PB tech when we saw it on special. My partner's a gamer and he said it's good for that too.

    It's a great price.

  • nice deal

  • Just picked one up (palmy).

Thanks mate! Been looking for a cheaper TV cause current one has been throwing a tanty. Picked one up from Manukau

    • How is it?

Sooo nice. The ambilight is so cool, it's a small detail that adds a lot more immersion. The quality is good, I'm yet to play games on it but streaming has been good. Stoked with it
