  • Just want to ask, your buds3 pro is at a very good price - seems too good to be real?

  • Good deal just be aware the 8gb means it is very limited in terms of memory and will age poorly (is not great now)

    It's basically a 3070

    • According to Steam's hardware survey, more than 75% of all users have a card equal to or less powerful than the 5060, and it's more powerful than the Series S|X, PS5, and Switch 2. It'll run all new-release games at 1080p on decent settings for at least the next 3-5 years because developers don't make money if nobody can actually run their games.

However, I'd like to throw in a bit of a curveball. If you're on a budget and mostly want to play new releases, you should strongly consider an Intel B580 12GB, which can be had for $550(extremepc.co.nz) locally, or $500(mwave.com.au) shipped from Australia. It's roughly similar to a 5060, but at 1440p the extra 4GB VRAM means it actually beats a 5060 Ti 8GB.

      • 55% of people game on 1080p on the survey, Yeah for 1080p medium sure 3 years maybe on less demanding games until next gen consoles come out.
        Depends on your targets.

  • Great company have purchased things from notbadtech in the past.

But everyone, if you are buying a PC today… do not buy that graphics card in any way shape or form.

    • What's wrong with that graphics card? Cheers

      • +3

8 GB memory is not enough for a lot of modern games even at 1080p.

You will soon need to turn down a lot of texture settings and some poorly optimized PC games will need more then 8gb even on lower settings.

Significant stuttering and performance issues due to this.

        • Great insight, thanks for the heads up.

It has to be taken with context:
If you're playing newer AAA games mainly and cranking settings to max then yeah the 8GB sucks.
but if you mostly playing esports, indie titles, minecraft, fortnight etc then 8GB is still fine @1080p for those and and with all games there's always the option of turning down settings and dropping textures to high or medium instead of ultra
Because otherwise you're looking at $900+ for a 16GB card which a lot of people won't be able to afford with a budget build or going Intel B570/B580 or grabbing a 2nd hand card

  • Nvidia couldn't sell these inferior cards because the AI customers don't want them, where 80% of Nvidia's revenue is.
It's a 3070 from 5 years ago, but still at the original 3070 price.

  • The video card market is an extremely depressing place these days. The latest nvidia cards , pretty much suck. The exception is the 5090, but , that costs the same as a car.

    • Yeah this gen is definitely disappointing. The trend over the past half-decade was that the second tier xx60 card would be faster than every card from 2 generations prior. The 2060-S beat every 9xx, the 3060-Ti beat every 10xx, the 4060-Ti beat every 20xx.

And the 5060-Ti 8GB is only marginally better than a 3070-Ti.

Hopefully the 60xx cards resume the trend. Intel's 12GB B580 outperforms the 5060 and the 8GB 5060-Ti, and the AMD 9060 XT looks like it'll be a killer card if you can get it at MSRP, so maybe those will give Nvidia some motivation to up their game.

  • Never heard of Biostar? lol, would do some research on these pre builds if buying, some parts could be cheap and ways to cut cost

    • +1

Biostar is one of the largest motherboard manufacturers(google.com).
We are currently the only store in New Zealand that sells their products, which may be why you haven't heard of them.
