  • Around NZ$476 shipped. Briscoes had got this for $499 few times.

  • Is this any good?

    • From what I understand it's a Barista Express BES870 but without a built in grinder. If you're running an upgraded grinder or the better breville one like the Smart Grinder Pro than what the barista express has, it makes sense to go for this as there's no need for an integrated grinder you won't use.

    • No grinder so you will need an extra grinder…. I have a feeling that the version with a grinder has been not much more than this in the past.

      • Ok so maybe its only ever been down to 599 the version with the grinder.

I have one, it's fine for what it is but it has had to go in once for a warranty repair because the group head started breaking the seal due to loose screws allowing flex under pressure. Seems like a design issue.

I got it early this year. It was on deal ($399 I think it was). I bought a separate grinder with it. My reasoning for this choice was around easier maintenance. And less complex to fix if that happens. I’m very happy with the infuser. It’s a home grade. Frothing the milk takes its time but you can make pretty latte art with some practice. I found the sweet spot after trying various settings: 5.4s and 10 on the grinder (for one shot. Repeat for two shots). Supreme coffee beans: 18g for double shot or 10g for single. I don’t buy coffee at the shop anymore!
