@kevinh89: Absolutely. This ones are standalone units similar to firetv. It has apps/apps store. You don't need phone or something to cast. This has the same os as the tvs with Google tv. You can install apps, side load them and use remote to control it.

More powerful but not for everyone. I'll probably pick up another fire stick 4k max (2nd gen) for a stremio machine for my second TV. I'm gutted I missed out when they were clearing the 1st gen stock for $40 a few months ago
Which one is better? I haven't used fire stick before. After watching the reviews what I understand is casting from an Android device is easy in chromecast, correct me if I'm wrong. I mainly use this to cast the videos from browser or from video player in the phone.
