So we have to pay one way then return to Auckland for free?

    • Both directions are free, informed by Te Huia Facebook.

  • I don't understand that message on that site - what date range is it free from Hamilton to AKL? from 7Aug for 7 days?

    • Both Hamilton to Auckland, Auckland to Hamilton are free, from 7th to 12th Aug.

  • Auckland visitors: Note there's no public transport connection from Hamilton's Frankton station, and infrequent bus service nearby means that it's usually faster to just walk 15 minutes to the Hamilton Transport Centre. You'll need a Bee card to get onto buses in Hamilton, which can be purchased on the train.

Alternatively get off at The Base, although note that going back to Auckland from The Base there might not be enough seats on board. There are plenty of seniors taking advantage of the free SuperGold travel concession.
