I paid $399 AUD last prime day for the oled neon model, since it's only one week away from prime day of this year maybe hold it

  • +2

Neon is slightly cheaper now, 498.86 …. but still waiting out for prime day 🤣

    • When exactly is prime day? Seems like the peeps over at Ozbargain has deals that have already have early prime special?

      • July 11/12 but there are some early prime specials now.

If you havent used prime before, you can change to australia address, it may offer you prime trial for 30 days which you can sign up then cancel and change default address back to NZ. Obviously cant use the prime delivery benefits but you can at least have early access to some of their prime deals, prime video, and gaming benefits for 30 days.

        • Sorry quite new to this prime thing. Would I have to sign up to prime to access the prime prices on the day? Or is it accessible to anyone?

          • @NeverLucky: Quite a few of the deals will be prime exclusive, usually there are also other deals that is available to everyone but there is sometimes a limit and prime members get early access to purchase first.

          • @NeverLucky: Can sign up now but may need to pop in a random AU address.

  • Never bought anything big from Amazon…What’s warranty like? Do we have to ship it back to Aus? And pay for return postage?

    • +1

It depends on the product, but in most cases you will have to ship it back. Sometimes they pay for the return postage in advance and give you prepaid label or you pay for it and claim the postage later.

If the cost is less then the return postage you can ask nicely and would just get the refund and won't have to ship it back. I did that for $40 headphones which started acting after 3 weeks.

      • Thanks for clarifying, super helpful.
Also any tips on how to best purchase in AUD to minimise exchange fees etc?

        • +1

Use wise and pay in aud or use gift cards. Cashrewards has 1% cashback on gift cards.

          • @ace310: Thanks. So would i first convert NZD into AUD on my wise account? And then pay from there?
Or can i just pay with the NZD balance in my account? Or does it not matter?

            • +1

@Martz5: Just pay using wise without converting. It should do it. Important thing is pay in AUD on amazon, as wise has better conversion rate.

Some say to convert and keep in AUD when the rate is low, but I don't seem to find much difference it's only few cents here and there unless you are buying something worth thousands.

Edit: I always get gift cards to claim that 1% and pay remaining using wise if I need to.

        • Something like this often pops up so you can watch out for that
