  • Wow sounds too good to be true. Any catch?

    • +2

Yeah, the lack of cell reception outside Auckland ;)

      • Haha

      • +1

Ironic given it's aimed at farmers!

  • How do we get the card? I registered for an account but then what? Seems like we have to call a specific number in order to get the deal. Any tried it?

So it's not available to everyone as stated in the OP

        • Notice the "if" in the last 3 points. If you don't have those you don't need to supply it.

          • @36wish: Good point. Ah I want someone to try it first haha

      • when I tried to sign up they also asked for "If the account is for personal use, copies of the last 3 months bank statements for yourself and any other individual named on the application". Any way to avoid this requirement?

  • Is farm source card like a credit card?

    • It's a charge card. Similar to a credit card, but you have to pay the whole balance off each month.

  • Business Mobile Plans, not sure if expired already?
"Offer available for Farm Source account holders only from 1/11/2022 – 30/04/2023 or when we withdraw the promotion (whichever is earlier)."

    • It's a shame I just switched to this plan last month. Didn't know about this promotion

you dont need to be part of any supplier, you can sign up as an individual, i have done this.

I have a farm source card and also switched to this plan as well.

Amazing decent plan. But mine is $30 a month plus $1 a month for first 3 months.

    • Is it an easy as call them up, tell them u have farm source card and want to sign up to this deal? Cheers

      • yeah hit them up and they will get you to fill in a form for the service you want which then goes to farm source for approval. Once they approve you, they will ship you a replacement sim based on if you moving connections and etc. Make sure you don't have any interest free devices as they won't allow this, especially if you with 2degrees. You have to pay off all the remaining interest free balance after cancelling the plan and then you can transfer across.

    • broadband business deals seem alright too.

      Smart Fibre 500
      $71.40/month + $300 welcome credit + static IP. 24 month plan though.

      • plus 6 months of Amazon Prime.

    • This deal is $30 a month as well, + GST.

So are you saying yours is $30 a month including GST?

      • yeah but farm source provides that GST as further discount so you will only pay $30. will confirm once my 3 months is over, currently on 2nd Month with just $1 monthly bill hahaha mean deal though.

Farm source card also gives you 16c off at mobil and a bit less at the others and about 10%ish off trade items at bunnings (they just scan it you can pay however you normally would). I've found it very useful for both.

  • What network does 2degrees use? Do they have their own these days or do they piggy-back off One / Spark ?

    • I think they still piggy backing off Spark/One but soon about to have their own.

    • Their own network.
In areas where they don’t have their own network, it has an agreement with One to use its service.

      • I think they turned that off "In 2020, 2degrees ended its national roaming agreement with Vodafone NZ"

    • +1

They had their own network from the day they launched, it was pretty limited for a while though.

    • +1

You're getting a weird mix of incorrect or outdated answers.

2degrees has their own network and has had for many years. They used to roam on Vodafone but that ended. They never roamed on Spark. Currently they can use a minority of Vodafone/One towers:

In 2020, 2degrees ended its national roaming agreement with Vodafone NZ. It now has an infrastructure sharing agreement with Vodafone NZ on 200 remote towers (using Multi Operator Radio Access Network (MoRAN) technology).

Further, rural areas that were not commercially viable to cover individually are covered by shared infrastructure which is subsidised by the government RBI and mobile black spot funds which goes to the RCG:

In a world-first, the RCG network uses 4G Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) technology whereby all three NZ mobile networks are using the same radio spectrum band for the first time. This means all three providers will share one piece of infrastructure including the pole, antenna, power, and backhaul.

Spark, One NZ , and 2degrees have allocated 700MHz spectrum to RCG, to enable the 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) with VoLTE (Voice over LTE or high-definition calling) rural network

2degrees is in green, RCG is in Orange:

It's not just many years, as Kiwi mentioned they've had their own network since they launched service i.e. they've never not had their own network; even if it was limited to major cities at the beginning.

        • Very true, should have worded that better.

  • Oh I see that same page has a One NZ deal for the same price. So if you're already with One NZ then that might also be worth considering

    • yeah but One NZ only has MAX 40GB Data and unlimited download speeds drop if you read the terms and condition.

      • Yeah true. But personally I'd never use more than 40GB data on my own

  • Consumer $65/$75 fibre plan seems good too. $100 prezzy card and 12 months instead of 24 months.

    • Info on this broadband deal please

  • Hmm.. looking to sign up.. it says it needs our biometric information.
Given latitude's hack not sure I feel about handing that over.
I don't think even banks ask for biometrics do they? Thoughts?

    • Banks do, its a kyc requirement to have either biometrics or in person verification

      • Ah good to know.
I think I might have been verified in person, but don't think I gave any fingerprints
        I guess a what's a few squiggly lines to save $30/mo :')

        • Online isnt fingerprints (nor in person). It is facial recognition through an app (moving head while camera captures it at different angles). Obviously that can be verified in person or through certified copies of documents (notary/justice of peace)

  • can the data be shared?

    • +1

nah only personal hotspot, you can add another person for same price.

    • It can be. The 100GB Endless mobile plan has Hotspot included.

  • Had a look. They talk about being a Shareholder (buy $500 worth of shares + $25 fee per annum) to get a Rewards card. Is this just an optional extra or a prerequisite to obtain the card? Thanks

    • I believe you were looking at farmland card. This is farm source card.

      • Thanks for that. I was initially looking at FarmSource but must have gotten the wrong search when I returned to it. Cheers!

  • +1

Has anyone confirmed switched over and got it working the past few days? It says it expired a week ago 30/04/23?

    • On farm source it states that the deal would run until 30/6 so I believe that they have extended it

      • Good spotting, thanks

  • During the sign up process, do we have to get the farm source card or can we just create an account and use that? It looks like if we want a farm source card we have to direct debit the card a minimum $500?

    • Hey mate, could you please elaborate on this. Does that mean each month we will be charged $500 even if we don't use the card to make $500 worth of purchases?

    • Are you looking at Farmlands, not Farmsource? Farmlands needs you to buy $500 of shares or something. Farmsource is through Fonterra and is free.

      • He's talking about the farm source sign up, you need to choose a minimum for the direct debit which has to be atleast $500

        • Any more info on this?

      • Farmsource mate

  • That's a great deal. I was already on the 100GB business mobile plan with 2degrees so should now hopefully be even cheaper every month!

  • Can we cancel the plan after 3 months?

    • There's a bunch of info in the T&C's on termination fees for the broadband, but nothing I could see for mobile. Their other business mobile T&C's also apply, which have generic statements that "termination fees MAY apply". I'd definitely call or email to ask beforehand.

      • +1

Confirmed over the phone no contract on phone business plan for 3 per month for first 3 months.

  • How do I get around 3months bank statements? Do i choose personal or business account set up?

  • Endless Data Plan includes 100GB of max speed data then Endless Data at reduced speeds of up to 1.2Mbps per person & hot spotting speeds may be reduced further during periods of network congestion.

If you go over the 100GB, 1.2Mbps (unless this is a typo, this is only 0.15MBps) is the maximum speed, not guaranteed. The wording is unclear to me whether 1.2 Mbps is always the max for hotspots, or only once 100GB is breached.

  • Is it possible to sign up for a future date? If yes, how far? I still have 6 months on my kogan plan so will probably have to miss this one :(

  • I have successfully signed up to this plan - I was informed by 2degrees that the deal expired yesterday (end of May).

    • How long did farmsource take to get back to your email application? Been waiting 3 days now

      • I've been waiting a week.

      • I had to call to follow up with them on my online ID verification (the link they text through to complete) - they said they didn't receive my completed verification, but then they found it (strange). Took about two weeks all up! 2degrees were really helpful though, I think they have certain people dedicated to the business deals as I had a dedicated person the whole way through. I had to have the farmsource card (not just an account) as the payments for the mobile plan are paid for as a direct debit from the card, so just have to remember to pay that off each month.

        • What sort of card? When I go to apply for a card I only have these:

          Available card types*
          Farm Source Rewards Card
          Mobil
          Z Business
          BP

          • +1

@Premoz: I got a farm source rewards card. The 2degrees deal has to be paid from this card.

    • :( I thought it was until end of this month

      • +2

I mean the deal is still showing on the website so I would think they will honor it, may account got approved last week and was about to sign up when reading I need a card so will have to get on to that now. Fingers crossed it is until the end of June.

        • All pricing is excluding GST. Offers available for Farm Source account holders from 1/11/2022 - 30/06/2023.

  • Managed to get all signed up with 8 active connections for friends and family :) didn't need the card, just the account. Thanks OP!
