If your in the market, suggest price watching the 7900 XT. They have been down at $1350 a couple of times. Worth the extra $150 for higher resulution gaming.

    • TradeMe worth keeping an eye on as well, 1 week old 7900xt Merc $1250, 7900Xtx hellhound $1500 when I was looking last month. Just make sure the seller can provide the reciept from the NZ Store it was purchased from.

  • I got the "ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX TAICHI 24GB GDDR6 Graphics Card" during the Easter sale, had issues to start with which ended up being my RAM running at 6000mhz, dropped it down to 5600mhz and yet to have any issues. Great cards :)

I had some weird performance issues with my 7900XT and ram @6000mhz EXPO profile - but updated my MSI motherboards bios to the latest stable release and made sure Smart Access Memory (SAM) was turned on in the AMD drivers and that fixed it. Might not work for your particular config but worth a go if you are comfortable with bios updates.

As an ex intel/nvidia user the switch to full AMD has been a bit more fiddley than my old setup, but huge gains from the tweaks like undervolting compared to what I squeezed out of my old setup so I guess its worth persevering.

      • Yeah I've updated my BIOS already, will have a look into the SAM setting and see if I can run it at 6000mhz again. Thanks for the tip :)

  • If you must have a 4070, looks like MSI getting some bonus kick back from NVIDIA or dropping their margin a bit
