Links up OzBargain and ChoiceCheapies?

Is there a way to link up OZ Bargain deals into Choice Cheapies? We know there are so many deals that just copied over, is there any easier way to link them 2 sites? Like if a bargain/thread in OZB works for NZ - then it automatically, or someone can low effort copy it over with a button (or two) to CC?

For fresh example, 3x First Aid Family Safety Kits (1x K410, 2x K101) $122.50 (Was $212) + up to 65% off Other Kits @ First Aid Kits Australia - this is a rather good deal, and after putting it into cart and upon checking out, turns out they also happily send it across the ditch for free! So how do one easily put that deal for more exposures for fellow NZ countrypeople?

  • Maybe post in the talk to a moderator thread. Looks like you've discussed this idea before, with a focus on Amazon AU offers. Some deals will be easy to copy over (games, vpn deals), but others like Amazon AU posts will have to take into consideration different shipping costs and GST. Most people over on OzBargain probably have Prime as well.

One reason why manually posting the offers is a good thing is the fact that people can win monthly prizes here if their deal ends up being top 5 most upvoted.

  • automatically

Not all deals from Amazon AU would apply, and post will need to be updated as Wakrak has said taking consideration of shipping + GST.

    low effort copy

That would be possible. Moderators have been having a function to "Post to ChoiceCheapies" from OzBargain (as well as Post to OzBargain from Cheapies) for a while, which basically opens the deal posting form with all details filled out so the poster can make suitable changes. Maybe we'll open that function up for other users as well.

  • Price in NZD is another consideration as well as GST and shipping already mentioned.

I think the concept has merit in terms of time saving to post a deal, but I wouldn't want to see 'lazy deals' where the content is just duplicated from across the ditch without adjustment for NZ.

  • I don't see the point of doing this.

Just subscribe to emails and set up your subscription settings properly. You should be able to receive emails from both sites under your email inbox. Just check it from there and you won't miss any deals.

You can even join a Discord server that someone created, which pulls the deals from both sites (and many others) into the same server channel. I have my own Discord server that does this as well.

Furthermore, you can create a Google App Script to look into your emails and scan the body content. If certain keywords (that you care about) are found, then do something about the emails, e.g. add labels or trigger a webhook to do something else. I'm not a programmer, but I managed to create a pretty complex Google App Script that does something like this, all by using ChatGPT. As an example, if certain keywords in OZBargain emails are found, then do not archive the email. Anything else that's Aussie specific, archive them. Then, anything that's left in your inbox are ones that are specific and unique to you and so you should have a read at them. Of course, you can filter on the categories in your OZBargian account too.

Also, install both the Cheapies and OZBargain browser extensions and then get into the habit of using them on sites that you normally buy stuff from, then you won't miss anything.
