Ha ha… Just like the D-Link SOHO routers with "Joel's backdoor", Supermicro motherboard spy chips, et cetera. Nothing funny about it. These are CCP controlled companies with long track records of subversive activities. Why do you think Huawei infrastructural hardware devices are blacklisted from being implemented into critical infrastructure? These devices are compromised.

  • I bought these last time, and realised all the light fittings in my house are bayonet, not screw and had to buy some adapters to suit. : /

  • I had a light blow this morning, great timing!

Yeelight W3 WiFi LED Warm White Dimmable Smart Light Bulb E27, maximum luminous flux of 900lm, 8W \, 2700K Remote Control Enabled

  • Any recommendations for rgb bulbs?

    • Most of them are the same, I've got one from arlec (bunnings), smart ape (mighty ape) and a few from Logan. They are all identical and even work with each other's apps.

I also do have these white Xiaomi bulbs and a yeelight RGB one. Honestly it's a lightbulb that changes colour using WiFi, if it works it works and I couldn't justify using expensive ones. Kogan seemed to be the best price when I picked up a few bulbs.

  • Got some dimmable last time and they're pretty good, keeping an eye on RGBs. This is still pretty good.

  • These ones work fully locally with home assistant for anyone interested, but takes a couple extra steps.

Unlike Yeelights these can't connect to Yeelight app which has the local LAN toggle. So first connect via Mi Home app, then use a Xiaomi CLI (there are a couple available) to get the devices token and enable LAN mode.

After that home assistant should automatically discover them

  • Sadly none of these smart bulbs would provide 1500 lumen and beyond, so I only use them in bedrooms, hallways, and garages where bright light is less desired. For lounge and kitchen, I use 1500 lumen warm white bulbs only - super bright super happy
