Shine is a whole new way of mattress design. Scientific. Luxurious. Honest. Everything in a Shine mattress has a single purpose: to create a completely integrated sleep system that adapts to how the human body changes during each stage of the sleep cycle.

Shine mattresses don't come in a cardboard box they are high end luxury mattresses with an 8-Layer integrated sleep system.

This is 8LiSS™, pronounced bliss, Shine’s 8-Layer Integrated Sleep System.

Layer 1: 100% Natural Wool
Layer 2: Latex
Layer 3: Cloud Foam
Layer 4: Gel Infused Memory Foam
Layer 5: Support Foam
Layer 6 Micro Pocket Spring
Layer 7: Individual Pocket Spring
Layer 8: Foam Encasing

The Goldilocks Zone: Medium - Not too firm, not too soft.

Shine's comfort layer contains three layers of foam that work together to provide a customised feel for you and if required your partners individual body shapes. From softest to firmest the three foams support each other to provide a consistent medium feel across the whole body.

Shine isn't a glorified camping mattress rolled up in a box. Your spine needs positive support to push back against gravity and maintain natural spinal alignment. Shine's 5-Zone pocket spring system is made of individual heat treated springs that can independently react to your body to give you the right amount of support where you need it most.

Have you ever sold one at full price?

That is to say, $4,000 for the Queen.

also interested > consumer law around sales pricing too

The 'usual', 'was', 'normal' or 'everyday' price all mean the same thing – they are a reference to the price at which a good or service is usually sold, or the price at which the good or service was offered before it was marked down.

A business that makes these types of discount claims might mislead consumers if:

it does not charge the "usual" price
the 'usual' price is made up only for comparison purposes
the claimed usual price is one of many prices at which the business commonly sells the good or service
the claimed usual price is out of date.

    • Historical deals would indicate this is at least 50% a previous "sale" price: https://www.cheapies.nz/node/27792

      • Correct Toddy - this is a great price. We just need to clear some space in DC for new stock arriving. Cheers.

It wouldn't surprise me if they sold at least one, mattresses have obscene markups. There are mattresses listed for over $10k on the Bedpost website.
I guess the question is whether they're listed for $4,000 most of the time.

  • Do they sell a base for the mattress?

  • Hi bullseye - sorry no mattress bases. Mattress only. Cheers.

  • Are these matrasses foam boxed around the outside, so that they keep their shape when you sit on the edge?

    • Hi Dutch, yes foam encased. You won't slip off or slip out of bed.

  • Interested. Is the company new? NZ manufactured/based? I'm failing to find reviews online.

      • Thanks Rise and Shine, that's all good but I was looking for third-party reviews outside your website. Which might be a challenge since it looks like the company only started 2021 eh?

          Oh my mistake, 2020 incorporated.

          • @Japo32: Bought the Queen size. Thanks OP. I'll post a review when we get it.

@Japo32: I was also hunting around for impartial reviews like you were, i.e. feedback via Trade Me. There is one buyer who left feedback on a winning bid of $999 for the Queen.

i'm lurking and might get one - please post your impressions after you use it

      • will do. we've set it up on our existing bed frame and it's a bit high about 70cm including the frame haha.

        thicc boi is tall boi.

firmness is quite nice. goldilocks zone for my wife and I since I like soft and she likes firm matresses.

will update after a few nights sleep.

        • Hi there
Can you Pls post the exact height of only the mattress please? Thanks

I ordered and received two queen mattresses today. The quality of the mattress is incredible. It's super heavy(probably more than 40 kg) and thick. Previously I returned Emma as I feel really bad after using it for 10 days. This mattress feel really good. Just.. I believe Shine sent a returned mattress. I don't believe this is new as both of the mattresses has a black dirt mark on the edges(I have a proof photo). But $700 for queen mattress, I don't believe I can get any similar quality spring mattress so I'm gonna take them.

  • The delivery of mine didn't go very well on Friday. It arrived with ripped plastic and black marks on the mattress. I was told by the delivery crew that they brought it out to me to make the judgement because it's quite a frequent thing with mattresses. Often people will just accept them with some minor damage, having cleared out their existing beds. No contact yet from either Mainfreight or Shine about getting a replacement arranged.

  • Missed this one. Better be quicker next time ☺️
