Tussock Garden Shed (W240 x D130 x H170cm) $299 (C&C Only) @ Crackerjack

70

Great price for a shed of this size, has been 400 for a little while now. yes it's probably not built like a 2k shed but it should be fine deal for the money.

Can also combine with amex support small business offer as they are listed on that.

  • What kind of floor do I need to place this on?

    • I bought a shed from Bunnings. Made up a floor plan and laid treated 4x4 and covered with treated fence palings. Still strong at 5 years.

      • If using treated timber, check what treatment it has.

I might be out of date / poor memory with the ratings, but I think it used to be something like:

H3 for fence palings (not in contact with the ground)
H4 for fence posts (in the ground)
H5 for marine use (I guess submerged either constantly or twice a day).

For this use case, I would try to get H4 or H5 treated as they should last longer, but H3 treated palings might be okay for a good few years I suppose.

Since it's presumably outside, I imagine there should be no issue with the chemicals that come off such products.

    • use fence paling and rails for the base
https://imgur.com/a/p3nJxSt (its same shed, got it for $99 in 2021)

      • Thanks for this but What are "rails"?

i'm thinking based on this is i need to get fence palings and h4 treated (50x50 or 100x100?) for the joists and use that as a base.

        • 75 x 50mm 4.8m F2 H3.2 Radiata Timber Fence Rail $21 or pay a bit more and get 100x 50. you just need couple of lenth

  • Looks like its gone up in price at some point:

    • it was 99 at some point

      • actually pretty cheap back in the day wow… similar size sheds today are atleast 450++

  • No delivery, and no shops in South Island :/

  • Guessing coloured steel is not the same as colorsteel. Wonder if it is galvanised.

    • Is painting galv a thing? I always thought galv was what you did when you didn't want to paint and vice versa.

      • You're right but in todays world what we always thought can be a trap.
On the otherhand, I don't want to paint my corrugated iron roof but it is commonly thought of as galvanised iron & is in dire need of painting/repair :'(
To be aware many sellers of globally sourced product will claim "galvanised" for zinc plated or some other inferior process & while technically it maybe correct it is not the same as "hot dipped galvanised" usually the superior process.
I would think coloured steel compared to coloursteel is a similar marketing technique.
Sometimes you don't need a shed to last for 30-40 years though.

      • I believe proper colorsteel has a zincalume base that helps prevent corrosion of the steel. So if the paint layer gets scratched it shouldn't rust.
