The Low Quantity Thread

Limited Quantity

If your deal has limited quantity, please mention it in the description. If the quantity is too small then your deal may be removed. As a guideline, less than 10 quantity of items is not enough for a deal unless the item has a high price.

This is the thread for these deals.

@justaddwater: One of the best option is hair dryer.

          • @justaddwater:

what do you use to remove sticker?

Piece of plastic - if it scrapes up and off easily, that's fine, else… meh.

We aren't going to bother pulling out the label remover spray for these :-)

        • Would one of these work ok as an emulator for older game systems plugged into a tv? Want to set one up for my kids in the playroom since they're using my pc for it atm.

Couldn't say for sure - would have to depend on the requirements.

If these are ex-business machines, then usually no graphics cards - just onboard graphics.

          • @tacobaron: Thatll work well you can run one called retropie on Linux

    • Cheers. Got two!

        • +1

I would rather buy from dicksmith. Direct shipping seems expensive around $39+ depending on size/weight. I could be wrong though, as didn't actually register so if that changes something I don't know.

          • @ace310: Also seems like they now sell on mighty ape as well, stumbled on one kf the HP towers on there at the same price as dick smith. Makes sense with mighty ape pretty much being a clone of kogan now.

"I think the worst malwave i've ever seen in my life and its really pervasive - it actually infects quite a number of machines, is probably Norton Antivirus" - PirateSoftware https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KOrmHRAUl3w

      • Yep, as much as I appreciate you posting the deal, they would have to pay me alot more than $40 to even put Norton AV on my PCs. The resources it uses and incomprehensible lag it introduces is terrible from a performance perspective. And its purposely made hard to remove to and with popups. Maybe their mobile apps are better? Their PC ones have never inspired any confidence.

I think that's perhaps a little unfair. Pretty sure Norton was actually okay for a few months in the early nineties… or was that AVG?

          • @Alan6984: Norton tools before the pervasive malware and virus stuff was brilliant in the old pre windows dos days. Imagine having graphical file managers in the days of command line only! Tools that were later part of windows didn't come with dos so that's where the likes of Norton and similar came in. The virus/malware scanner was also good I believe as was AVG, in the early years and well worth having if you were a heavy user of pirated sstuff like I was. I believe the name/product was sold to Symantec at some point and they were the ones who changed the model (that others like avg followed), of total machine take over.

I think this was when computers became pervasive in the mid/late 90s and they moved selling "complete protection package" stuff aimed at the unsuspecting lay users.

Yeah don't touch that stuff with a bargepole!

        • If you have a gigabyte motherbaord and get updates via the gigabyte control centre, Nortons will always try to be installed when you install other updates as it is always selected by default. Did a firmware update and couldn't even disable nortons from being installed.

        • Also. It’s borderline impossible for a user to install without adding a credit card to auto renew.

    • They fixed it?

    • Is this worth it? Just sold my steam deck for $850.

    • Kinda crazy price but idk is qc still an issue on this thing? :/

      • Not too sure honestly, hopefully because it is remanufactured it means the SD card slot is fixed? That was the main issue I think.

        • True honestly, was weighing up between a handheld cheap and a lenovo T14 Gen 5 because I have an egpu. So hard to decide lol, I still have my T470 and I guess this would solve all the gaming issues. But at the same time I could have both things in like a 8840u laptop lol but this is so cheap idk what to do xd

          • @1ys23: In the same boat, decided that something like this gives a bit more flexibility. Will only take a laptop if necessary, saving bag space and/or carry on weight.

            • @Kiwi: True I'm deciding rn ahaha. I think I might take one though if I don't like ill just sell it its really cheap lol and min on trademe is 700 rn so don't mind if I just get my money back lol

Not on special, but a new addition to Kmart - Compressor Ice Cream Maker.

I recently bought one for just shy of $500 - so $109 is a steal! No idea the quality, but no pre-freezing to make icecream and having fresh homemade in an hour is amaziiiiing!

    https://www.kmart.co.nz/product/ice-cream-maker-43442911/?sk…

    • Free shipping as well.

    • this or ninja for $200?

      • +3

A Ninja Creami is different from most traditional ice cream makers because it does not have a cooling mechanism. Instead- it makes ice cream from a frozen substance using a high powered blender-type technology called a creamerizer paddle.

      • +1

Ninja, hands down. "Quicker" in the sense that you'll keep stuff on hand in the freezer and it takes minutes to turn that into ice cream or sorbets.

This one needs a long process, all in one go, so it feels like a chore to make ice cream everytime.

        • At 500ml at a time…

          • @LupinS: the one from kmart has "Maximum capacity: 500ml" and takes 1h to finish :(

            • +2

@deadfish: The ninja at $200 is a better deal, but the timing and size thing is about even - the ninja creami container is also only around 500ml, and although the creami does work quickly, it requires you to make up your icecream mixture at least the day before because it takes a minimum of 24 hours freezing. So if you haven't already prepared anything, then the kmart one can produce your icecream an hour after you make the mixture rather than the day after you make it as required by the ninja.
Of course the ninja can also make McDonald's-style milkshakes which the kmart one can't: pack the container with standard store vanilla icecream, two tablespoons of milkshake syrup and top off with milk and your milkshake is ready about a (very loud) minute later.

              • @tieke: Ninja can make a ton more things than just ice cream, also regarding the amount, there's always the option to buy more tubs and freeze different flavours.

I can absolutely do 5 different ice cream flavours in minutes. How long would it take for the traditional churner to do 5?

                • +1

@Redcafej: I'm not dissing the Ninja Creami - I have one, although I also sometimes use the standard churning-while-freezing method that the kmart machine does. I was just pointing out that as far as timing goes, if you are the sort of person who decides on the day to make icecream rather than preparing ahead, then the fact that the Ninja Creami can churn multiple pre-made tubs in minutes may not be as relevant :)

                  • +1

@tieke: This is become a devisive cheapies topic. Its the new "best coffee machine" thread

                  • +5

@tieke: First icecream using the kmart machine.
Quiet machine, 2 button start. Very simple to use.
                    Used lindor 70% dark.
Super rich taste, smooth icecream. Could probably use half a block rather than the whole thing.
Melts quickly, but it didnt last very long.

Going to try greek yogurt icecream next.

      • +1

Where did you find Ninja Creami for $200?

      • +4

Just my own anecdote, my sister has a Ninja Creami, and I have a compressor icecream machine.

        Creami
Pro: can make dessert with literally anything, freeze a whole can of peaches the night before and blend - easy, yum. No worries about fat and sugar ratio as per trad icecream so can essentially make “super healthy fat free” etc.

Con: will freeze solid again when frozen and will need to be rechurned each time if not eaten in one sitting. Basically just a high speed blender. Need to plan in advance and freeze.

        Compressor:
Pro: homemade icecream or sorbet. Quick - no preplanning needed other than making a base which you can make in bulk and store in fridge for a bit. Stores like storebought icecream or softens at room temp after few min depending on freezer temp and retains its creamy texture.

        Con:
Makes you fully aware of just how much sugar and fat goes into making icecream 😅 harder to make “super healthy” icecream or sorbet. But, icecream isn’t meant to be healthy, so…

End of day, depends on your preference and budget.
