Just be aware - the service from these guys is shocking. Im still waiting for my sim cards from a month ago and the codes are expiring. They responded to say they have had issues with shipping them as their systems were down or something - that was a couple of weeks ago - and that was it - no further response and a month later nothing. Pretty unimpressed so far. Fair warning definitely dont go cancelling a plan etc until you have the sim cards in your hand

    • Hey mate, I can send you an untouched/unused Kogan SIM today if you'd like?

Very kind of you, sadly my codes are expiring so I still need them to sort it anyway.

Just not worth it unfortunately their service is slow and not worth it. They took over a month to sent some to me and had to open a dispute to get them to refund it

I ordered my sim card on 22nd Jan and shipped on 24th Jan to an Auckland central address. Received within a week. This is by snail mail not courier where you pay additional.

Just waiting patiently on a yearly plan to come up with lower price instead of more data.

    • Purchasing anything online during Dec/Jan is always a shocker. Have had 3 parcels go missing so far this year, but got my money back for them.

A good reminder to anyone that purchased the deal I posted back in December here that you only have a couple more day's to activate your voucher if you haven't done so.

Personally, I have had no problems with getting sims/vouchers from Kogan but reading through the various comments across all the Kogan threads there are a number that have had issues.
The price is good in this deal if you use a lot of data.
Just make sure you get on to it early in case you have problems and I would also recommend that you always order a free SIM card even if you are an exisiting customer.
Doesn't cost any more and Sim cards are always useful.

    • That $5 deal continues, new expiry is 30/06, but only if you purchase from today onwards of course. I am also a fan of buying extra SIMs in advance, but just have to be wary of their expiry dates on the pack.

  • been using kogans $5 sim with 15GB data and unlimited texts calls for last 6 months as i only want the data because my spark does not have service were i am working i just replace sim every 30 days for new one and start new account and i have not had an issue with kogan get my new sim in less than a week after ordering its a cheap way of getting data for a month

    • I've actually had ~2 weeks once or twice during the lock down extreme. There was also one time back in 2019 where they forgot to send them to everyone I think, ended up sending by courier once they realised when people complained. At the time the free SIM wasn't added to your order they just send it so I think somehow it caused confusion. But never had multiple months.

Their vouchers sometimes can take and hour or two to arrive which is a bit weird and annoying since it seems it should be something almost instaneous but not that bad

    • Similar - in the past i have had these Kogan sims and got them in the post quite quickly - this time around when of course I sign up for a year - i cant get them out of them despite numerous complaints. Very hit and miss, and given they are basically worthless you would think they would just ship more out straight away, but they dont.

Its really just a shit customer service issue.

  • Seems like a great deal for those data hogs. I have 2 4GB plans from them, all going well so far.

Good deal however I've had calls disconnected halfway, 4G stopped working unless I toggle the mobile data button off/on etc and I'm in a big city with 5G tower nearby… Didn't have these issues with Spark. Its pretty cheap so I guess thats okay.

I agree, I’m having the same issues recently but it seems like Vodafone network more than kogan.
As my other Vodafone number does the same.
Surprisingly never had any issues for past 2 years but it’s a recent issue.

I had problems when the data would sometimes stop working requiring me to restart Huawei P30. Even turning mobile data on and off or putting it in airplane mode didn't seem to help. But haven't had that think for over a year. Although very recently I put in a new SIM my phone seemed to get stuck on 3G and needed a restart to fix. I was travelling a bit and fairly sure went between several towers, once I restarted it was fine though. Hardly ever use calls so little experience with that.

  • I received the sim card within reasonable time, and the only thing I have with….. the network connection, I often talked to myself… half way through the phone call… and showing no signal… and I need to redial again…. but not complaining since it's only $80 for 1 year…. with unlimited call and messages..

  • Been using Kogan since launching NZ in 2019.
Had no issue with them and introducing it to friends and family. No complaint at all at this price.

  • Someone please remind me which network does Kogan use?
i.e will it say "Vodafone", "2degrees" or "Spark" on the top left cover of your phone?

  • Hi - I bought the previous deal.. and would like to get this one. It is unused for existing Kogan Sims - would anyone want to buy it for 15% off ? expires in 2 days for the 12 month 15gb a month. Please PM me as I would like to get this larger plan.

I think the price will be around $125 ish ?

    Cheers

It would be worth mentioning this as a comment on the previous deal I posted if this is where you purchased it from.
Even though the deal itself has expired now, anyone who subscribed/liked/commented on that deal will get a notification and if they didn't end up taking the deal at the time might be interested now.

      • great idea - thanks man

        • Hi, can you message me id like to buy the 15gb a month voucher pls

    • Still available?

  • OP - they have put an expiry on the deal now (which I’m sure they didn’t list before) if you want to add it to the deal.

    Offer available on
Kogan Mobile Prepay LARGE 365 Day plans purchased before 11:59pm NZST 14/02/2022 unless sold out prior or extended.

So you have until the 14th Feb to purchase the deal but until the 31st March to use the voucher.
Don’t be surprised if they extend it though.

  • Guess what guys, they've blocked my card for abusing this deal one too many times

    https://www.cheapies.nz/node/26290

    • Get yourself a Wise card and then you can use a different card number every time.

      • Thank you. I'll look into what a wise card is

It cost me $14 as a one off cost to get it but I know there are people that got it recently with no cost.
It is a brilliant card and I can highly recommend.

          • @bigcheese: Signed up and you're right. it's asking me to pay 14$for a card

            • @upbeat: I would still recommend even for $14.
You can essentially have 3 different virtual card numbers going at a time and when you are finished with a number just delete it and get a new one.

              • @bigcheese: But I'm moving out of NZ in a couple of months. I should've bought this years back :(
