It's a shame that it is a mediatek chip.
Mediatek dimensity CPUs are actually better than Qualcomm mid range ones.
Most of the android phones release in the past 6mths are Mediatek dimensity processor. They have good AnTuTu score at par with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

But the specs of the phone in the link to this deal say Snapdragon 888?
The pro has the snapdragon was meaning the standard model.

I'm actually considering a jump from Samsung to Xiaomi as I'm not willing to give up an arm and a leg for a phone. But I've been hearing so much about the upcoming Xiaomi 12s - so I posted this as half FOMO, half don't know what to do (do I wait to see if the vanilla version is better or do I take the plunge and get an 11T)?
the 12 are still a long ways away. I would say 6 months from now. The release date is for the China market first, then after a few months the global version comes out. 11t is market tested and on sale so its a safe choice, you can choose to wait for the 12 if you don't need it right now.
Bought the non pro version from PBTech (same sale price as Xiaomi store direct) and have to say it is a fantastic phone so far. Reviews online that I read before buying suggested that the non pro version was actually better than the pro version from a cost benefit perspective.
