  • I assume the 8gb bonus data is paused/lost if one deactivates the $16 plan?

Under the 'Porting Offer Terms & Conditions' it states:
      You must be:

      • A customer who activates a new SIM and buys a $16 or above mobile plan and brings their number over within 30 days from activation of SIM.

      • If you are on a $9, weekly plans or standard rates, you will still receive this porting bonus. Your bonus data will sit in our account for 12 months, unless used prior.

      • You must be on a Skinny mobile rollover plan to use your bonus data.

Therefore, it looks to me like you can keep your 8Gb bonus data even if you downgrade the plan but you won't be able to use it unless you are on a rollover plan ($16 month or above)

  • Is there any plan better than the Skinny $16 roll over?

    • It depends on what you are after.
How much do you use Calls, Txt, Data per month?
Are you willing to sign up for 12 months or monthly pre-paid?

All the networks have deals going from time to time but there is no one size fits all.
I did have the Skinny $16 month plan for my kids which was fine but have recently changed to Kogan when they had the buy 1 get 1 free deal.

      • Cheers, used to be on expensive plan with sportify, , moved off that , Skinny is great however
Someone asked me the other day about a family plan, I looked up plans, figured you better off on individual preplans if only use minimum calling and data , is that correct?

If you're only using minimum calling & data then you probably won't get any benefits from a family plan - in fact it will probably cost you more.
Prepay monthly also gives you the flexibility to change networks without penalty exit fees.
Skinny and Kogan are probably the cheapest if you want a little bit of everything. Only thing with Kogan is the data doesn't roll over but if you're not using much then it won't be a problem.
