    personally, i buy from amazon all the time & dont care about the warranty. I have yet to receive a warranty claim. I know one day it'll happen, but for now i accept that i am wasting money should it break.

    The US Amazon has always just refunded any item I have had under warranty. Their customer service is top notch so while not 'officially' covered, you will find they are really good with things.

    As far as item is sold by Amazon, I believe you should be covered to some extend. 3rd party sellers are different ball game.

    Also, as Amazon has started shipping to NZ. I believe they will have to honor the warranty. I am not sure if you can claim 2 yrs or not.
