Ones sold by Countdown are "Non medical"

  • FYI The Warehouse is also selling face mask for $20 (50 pcs). Also has 3 layers and filter.

OP that one is medical Type IIR, countdown / thewarehouse one has nothing comparable to OP one.

Please buy OP that one if you really need to visit high risk area..

    • said what I was going to say, The ones posted in the comments are not certified medical grade masks.

  • Looks great product.

Just bought two packs. Thanks OP

  • A quick online search suggested not using up medical grade unless you are working in high risk area(front line staff, medical professionals) or for at-risk individuals. For others non-medical ones are more than sufficient. Not using up medical ones make sure the supply of these valuable medical ones be depleted when needed.

    • Hmmmmmm, point taken.

    • ^will not be depleted*

      • Exactly. A mask with 3 layers plus a filter is more than enough for a day to day basis (going outside, supermarket etc). Unless you are in direct contact (face to face) with a confirmed case of viruses, then you won't need a medical grade mask.

They are probably referring to n95 grade masks (not these) as those are in short supply and needed by staff working in high risk areas such as hospitals.

  • Anyone can recommend where can I buy mask for toddler 2.5 years old?

  • IIR are Type 2 masks but splash proof to a certain degree.

  • I bought mine from onceit, it says: This item is FDA and CE approved. Does that mean it is medically approved??

generally those approvals are more about something being safe to use. for example, alot of electrical devices usually have the CE rating.

a medical rating is more about how effective it is against infection control but as others have pointed out thats probably only relevant to high risk areas (e.g. hospitals).

for day to day use for the average person you just need a face covering to block your droplets from entering the wider space around you.

    • Just some quick comments, Looking at the photos and matching the model number with the box with other photos online, it looks like this model "MB-01" is not a medical mask.

Looking at that product, It is tested to "EN149:2001+A1:2009" standards. Some quick googling found that the EN149 standard is the standard (Filtering half masks to protect against particles) according to work safe NZ. Which these are not.. Its important to note that it's advertised as "EU-FFP2 level" the N95/P2 standard on the website.

Also, it's good to be cautious when it comes to buying facemasks. If you try to find information about the company online "Dycrol" nothing really pops up.

Im not saying these face masks are bad, but, it's important to be aware of the claims they make as it could really doubt their effectivness.

      • Personally, I'd have more confidence in Zuru being able to source for better quality products.

As for "face covering", I sew my own 3 (or 4 or 5) layers "mask" using my son's old cotton t-shirts. No need to fuss over their "medical" properties, don't think they are relevant to me.

      • Thanks guys, what a waste of my $30 🥲

wow got it in one day

    • me too, I've now had 4 orders with them since last year and have never been disappointed

  • This one is another really good value for money one from Mitre 10 $12.50 for 50 piece - granted it's non-medical but hey, good old Airpoints up for grabs ;)
