That $10 heater will use $10 in power within 6 hours of use lol

    • Explain?

    • Rough math - 1000w for an hour is billed as 1 'unit' (kWh). So this would use ~2 kWh per hour. It costs roughly 30c per kWh, so 60c total per hour. You would expect it to cost about $3.50 - $4.00 for your 6 hours depending on where you live. Still a lot for a little table heater, but physical size isn't the determining factor here. Seems pretty good for Hour of Power use though.

      • Curious as to why someone would be paying 83c a unit, do prices get that high in NZ?

Think that was an exaggeration lol.

My reply was meant to be to that comment too, not to yours, which is why it probably look right.

          • @Kiwi: welcome back Shaw

            • @wearnes: Thanks mate. Work is pretty quiet so it's good for passing the time. Some pretty good posters on here these days.

    • On the flip-side, isn't it a good thing something that cheap can turn electricity into heat that easily?

    • I think im paying 16 cents /kw so roughly.. 0.16210=$3.2 but thats probably as low as a household would pay.

    • All electric resistive space heaters have the same efficiency. However a fan heater distributes heat much faster, at the cost of noise.

At $10 it's the cheapest way to keep warm if you don't have a heat pump.

      • And they are great for the workplace

    • It will, but you get exactly the amount heat you pay for regardless of what device.

Aside from heatpumps, which of course suck heat from the air outside

It's a pity.. these Saturday day deals are getting worse and worse.
