Great find ! Definitely looking into this now.

Also, from the top of someones head, can you find the extended warranty on this ? I can see the personal support has 40% off but I believe that is just support and not warranty.

    CHeers

    • Pretty sure premium support is an extended warranty. It says it covers hardware and software. The next tier up premium support plus includes accidental damage cover/insurance too. Of course CGA covers at least 3 years anyway if you're willing to argue the case. Extended warranties do certainly make it more stress free.

  • Dazza - cheers for that reply. You're right about the CGA, I completely forgot about this. I think this is a great deal if you are looking for a gaming laptop as it has been a 2070. Also note, if you are interested in buying, you can get this for $2,450 if you chat to their support (not much of a saving but you cna use 24 bucks on some food somwhere else!

    Cheers

  • Is it possible to get a gaming laptop that is light? Something under 2kg or we have to sacrifice weight for grunt?

    • If such a beast exists, do let me know too. The nature of these animals is that gaming laptop is always going to be bigger and heavier than their weedy productivity cousins, those gruntly gpus need more power, bigger batteries and bigger heatsinks. I guess if you're not a cutting edge gamer, onboard intel GPU and ryzen components do a respectable job nowadays, just expect to tone down details to medium and limit your resolutions

  • Any suggestions for a 15inch gaming laptop budget 1500-2000

Computer Lounge & Justlaptops are having 20% off sales that are worth looking at.

1500-2000 range is a Intel i7, GTX1660Ti(GTX2060 if to find any holiday specials) with 16gb Ram(dual channel 2x 8gb). 120hz/144hz screen is also something to look out for.

      • My 1st choice which I also own is the "ASUS ROG Strix G G531GU". The thermals are fantastic with zero throttling even after a few hours of gaming. It has NO webcam built-in. 120hz screen.

      • "ASUS FX505DU" Basically the same as above but with a CPU is a ryzen 3750H(intel i5). 120hz screen.

      • "ASUS ROG ZEPHYRUS G GA502DU" Simlar to the ASUS FX505D above.

      • "MSI GL63-8SD" again basically the same as about but with a 8th gen i7(last years) which is not loss since the performance diff between 8th/9th gen is only a few %

      • If you are willing to go the Amazon route that the "Acer Predator Helios 300(1660Ti model)" for less that $2000NZ(including GST/Duties). Only negative it has is 256gb storage which you can easily upgrade later. This was my original 1st choice but I missed out on the amazon special.

      • Hey thanks for the suggestions,I have been looking at the asus tuf series and dell g3 15.

Dell currently has this on special https://www.dell.com/en-nz/shop/cty/pdp/spd/g-series-15-3590… Dell G3 15 Gaming Laptop 9th i5-9300H,NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6 with Max-Q Design,8GB 2x4GB DDR4 2666MHz,512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive @ $1678.It is for my 13yo nephew who plays mostly fortnite so I wonder if the 60Hz screen on the Dell would matter.

edit - ASUS G531GU seems like a good deal

Dell: Games will still run on 8gb ok but you will run into more dropped frames while playing & overall lower frame rates. Contact Dell & see if they add 2x8gb or ask Dell if the both ram modules are upgradeable(not solder to the motherboard) & do it yourself post purchase, then sell the Dell 2x4gb on trade me.

A 60hz screen is just fine, I mentioned 120/144hz because it's a nice bonus to have.

The 1660Ti Max-Q is an under powered 1660Ti but still good for AAA games eg. if a game is running at 100fps the max-q will be about 85fps.

ASUS G531GU is at the top of your budget but you will need to add the extra 8gb ram for gaming(cheaper to do it yourself). Here's a couple of reviews that I based my purchase on(some specs are slightly diff) Bob of all trades & Own or Disown.
