      for sure

      • this post aint getting my upvote

    • Firstly, funding for public transport comes from Auckland Council (your rates) and not the government (taxpayers). Secondly, I cannot see this having a significant cost to the council. They aren't running any more services than they are now or hiring more staff, using more buses/trains. If anything, they might get some more revenue from the adults using the services with their free children rather than the car (also unlikely, JAFAs love their cars in the weekend)

More revenue part might not be entirely true. I don't particularly see any families altogether taking public transport because of subsidized or free travel for teens.
This is just my opinion.I don't wanna start an argument. Unsubscribing from the thread

  • Now all they need to bring in what they do in NSW - that for only $2.70 per person, your family can enjoy unlimited travel all day Sunday in Sydney, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast, Hunter and Illawarra areas, by train, bus, ferry and light rail. Children 3 and under travel for FREE. The capped travel fare also works for Sydney and Regional Buses Networks in the Sydney metropolitan and outer metropolitan areas, as well some private buses that connect with the train network.
