Don't be fool by BNZ. You have to pay for the fee while ANZ free first year if you never had the card before. https://www.anz.co.nz/personal/credit-cards/airpoints-visa-p…

no ones a fool going with bnz. you get the $150 cash back when you spend the qualifying amount. It's only a $90 annual fee. And you get 1.11% return for every $1 you spend. Do the calculations first.

    • Anz platinum cashbacks costs 125 pa and it's only up to 1% cashbacks (compare to bnz which is 1.11)

The 150 cashbacks bonus more than covers the first year of fees and subsequent years are cheaper so you save more long term. You also get free warranty extension (on top of travel insurance etc) with the platinum card

I switched from anz cashbacks to anz because of all the benefits. The only thing I miss about anz are their vastly more branches.

  • ASB rewards card are Fee Free for the first year as well.

No minimum spend required. (From personal experience, you tend spend on things you don't really need just to meet the threshold.)

ASB Visa Rewards cash back : $1 for every $150 spend
ASB Visa Platinium Rewards cash back : $1 for every $100 spend

They also have AA fuel discount rewards, but they seem lot less than the cash rewards($0.01/l for $50 spend on Visa Rewards Platinium and $75 spend on Visa Rewards)

  • Roughly, how much do you have to earn before taxes to be eligible for platinum cards?

I thought kiwibank was more like 60k

      • Definitely not more than 6 digits. They just have to be sure you can service the $10000 credit limit (as this is the min limit for a Platinum card). There are multiple factors that impact this, including income and credit score.

    • Depends on your equity. You can be on 60k a year and they still let you apply (although not sure if you should)

Need to be a Strata member. https://www.aucklandairport.co.nz/strata-club/promotions-and…

    • Got the email too. Are the lounge passes in conjunction with the cash back?

      • Yes it should be
