Data Hunting Season is back. There are 200 million megabytes on the loose, all over New Zealand right now, its game on people because anyone and everyone can play. All you need is your smartphone, and to be quick because the sooner you join, the more data you can feast on.
Data pins are positioned throughout New Zealand and contain prize data (Prize Data) as follows:
(a) Blue Pins contain Prize Data ranging from 20MB to 500MB; and
(b) Golden Pins contain Prize Data ranging from 500MB to 10,000 MB.
- 100MB free data at the time of registering for the Game;
- 50MB free data after collecting 3 data pins; and
- 200MB free data after collecting 10 data pins.
The maximum Prize Data that you can redeem over the Promotional Period is 10,000MB (Prize Data Limit).

How To:
Using the interactive map as your guide, find 2degrees Data Spots throughout New Zealand. Data Spots are easy to locate as they’re marked by blue 2degrees Data Pins on your map. When you’re near a Data Spot you’ll be able to collect its Data Pin, give it a spin to find out how much free data you’ve scored! All the data you collect will be loaded to your account instantly.
If you’re not a 2degrees customer, you can still hunt data. Just join 2degrees before 06/02/18, and we’ll apply the data you’ve found to your new 2degrees account. You can either request a free SIM through this app, or pick one up for $5 from anywhere selling our SIMs. Or, you can keep your current number, switch it over to 2degrees, and when you open the app your data will be instantly added.
And for those considering location spoofing, I expect they will be a little more prepared this time around. They covered themselves in the terms:
If, for any reason, 2degrees reasonably suspects that an individual has tampered with, intervened in an unauthorised or fraudulent manner, or for any other reason which may interfere or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Game, 2degrees reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any participant, take any action that may be available or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Game.

On Android, it would be useful for someone with the ability to extract the APK, to upload it so that those with Google Play billing addresses outside of NZ can install the play store listing, as the app is region restricted. It could also be submitted to https://www.apkmirror.com (top right) too.
