  looks like targeted. how do one usually receive those? by email? is it usually sent to new (recent) customers only?

  I never got an invitation but was able to register my AmEx, it's a supplementary card but the primary card holder doesn't really seeing an email about it either. I've got an "Air New Zealand American Express Card".
