Seems they have mutually agreed to sit with a high margin, and then regularly discount to what should be the 'normal' price. Its like the kathmandu or briscoes model, but across a whole industry.
The only time you seem to see an actual notable discount is if gull does 15c+ or you get a double discount from a gull price match + smartfuel.
I have seen stations raised their prices on discount days. But they don't do it every week, so it is difficult to catch them in the act…
Crazy, these are happening nearly every week now. Is it competition? I thought the oil price had gone up. Shows the margins they were making…
