  • FibreX is showing $120 per month though? $110 if you have on-account. How did you get $79.90 per month?

  • What do people think of Vodafone as an ISP though? Relative to Bigpipe, this appears to be $20 cheaper per month (for 200/20) and $300 credit….is there a catch?

    • Cable with them was fantastic. Haven't tried there fibre but sister has been with them for a long time with no complaints.

      • Is FibreX cable? They don't seem to actually offer regular fibre to me (Wellington area)

        • +1

Yes FibreX is their new (confusing) name for their hybrid fibre/coaxial product.

I had the opposite experience with their cable product when I was living in Christchurch, although that was about 4 years ago. I found it unreliable and the local node would go down every couple of months resulting in a 40+ minute wait on hold to speak to someone and then another 24 hours for them to send a tech out to turn it off and on. In the end I went with ADSL from Snap even though it was slower.

        • @quasar: so 'FibreX' is cable? I thought Fibre was better then Cable.

        • @ClipIt: Yer FibreX is cable, and fibre is better than cable. They'll also refuse to connect you to fibre if you're in a cable area all so they can recover the cost of buying Telstraclear's infrastructure and/or not pay the LFC (Chorus or Enable), and probably the reason for the confusing name. I personally think the ComCom should give them a slap for the misleading product name.

        • @quasar: I think that's what's happening for me - my place already has fibre so it would be easy to simply switch providers, but the vodafone website only offers FibreX - which I don't really want to switch to!

        • +1

@joshtnz: Most likely - they would rather lose customers than let the customer choose fibre over cable, it's idiotic.

  • Do you know what is the last date? I am tied up with Spark until May this year.

    • Could always talk to them about scheduling it.

  • Its a shame they dont do this for VDSL. Cant get fibre here :(

    • are directly offered the offer by Vodafone and sign up to a Naked VDSL Unlimited broadband plan on a 12 month term;

I wonder if they have a sales number that can offer this $300 credit with VDSL?

    • You sure it's not included? I thought the terms and conditions included VDSL

      • Cheers didnt see the T&C's, will give them a call

  • Just signed up. Free modem, $300 credit and a reduction of $20 per month (Vodafone and Sky Combined). Sounds good to me!

    • Perfect! How much are you paying in total each month?

      • $94.99 for Unlimited VDSL
$45 for Sky Basic Package + Free Mysky
        + Free Modem
        + Free Connection
+ Free Neon for 12 months

Basically the same i was paying with 2degrees and sky except i get free Mysky now which drops my monthly cost

        • +1

Your SKY TV would be cheaper with that $39 telemarketer deal. You'd get basic package, one premium channel and free MY SKY. Two premium channels for the cost of whatever the basic package is now.

        • @Mark Wasley:

          :O didnt know about this!

Is that deal valid for existing customers or only new customers?

        • @Shrapz:

Iirc, it's only for new subscribers and existing customers can never get it (even if you beg) :p

        • @Shrapz: don't worry you got a good deal!

  • +3

May want to update working from: Sign up for broadband and get $300 joining credit free (includes modem)
    to
Sign up for broadband and get $300 joining credit + Free modem

Current wording makes it sound like the $300 joining credit includes the value of the modem

Offer available to selected existing Vodafone customers who are directly offered the offer by Vodafone and to one of the following plans:
    - Naked Fibre Unlimited broadband plan on a 12 month term

So if I'm on a naked fibre unlimited plan (currently upgraded to 100Mbps for free), I can't get in on this deal? I haven't been contacted directly.
Don't really have a day to wait on hold to check (online chat told me to call).

    • Shrapz managed to get it. Just give them a call and see how that goes.

    • Also are you already with Vodafone? Less likely of achieving the deal if so but do let them know you'll renew the contract of 12 months if they could honour you

    • Or let them know you could switch to Big Pipe and get two months free. They'll lose a customer if that happens.

      • That's what I was thinking, they should come around with that.
