Free Cisco Meraki MR18 Access Point For Attending Webinar (RRP $740)

90

If you own a company or official looking website, you are more than likely eligible for a Meraki MR18 AP!

To be eligible you must meet the following requirements:

  • Attend the live event or the live webinar in its entirety
  • Provide a valid company name and website
  • Be an IT professional working in one of the countries listed below and have an active role of managing, maintaining, or monitoring their organization’s network infrastructure, and be employed by the company.
  • Not be a partner, reseller, or consultant
  • Register with a shipping address in the US, Canada, the UK or the rest of the EEA, Croatia, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, or Puerto Rico. We cannot ship free APs outside of these regions and cannot ship to post office boxes.
  • If from a European country, provide a valid VAT ID for shipment.
  • Register with their company email address
  • Confirm satisfaction of the above requirements and shipping address with a Cisco Meraki representative by phone.

Basically you watch the webinar and afterwards you'll receive an email from a Cisco representative, you'll have to ring them and you'll be asked a few questions about your business etc.

The next webinar is tonight (7th Dec) at 6pm NZDT. Afterwards the next one isn't until early January of next year. Also coming up on the 11th of January is a switch webinar to receive a free MS220-8P switch (RRP $1400).

It does involve a little bit of work, but it is indeed a freebie that I couldn't recommend enough!

    Nice, definitely interested in this.

Have marked it as targeted, just because of all the requirements. It makes it quite a niche freebie.

    • Thanks :)

  • I think it's a 3 year license on these and once the license is finished the devices stop working, not that I'm complaining because it's still free!

    • with a 3-year cloud management license.

      Yea 3 years.

Think you can extend those, but no idea how much it costs.

You can also install OpenWRT on it, bypassing the need for a license

      • Nice, last time I checked (which was quite a while ago) people were still trying to get it running. I get hassled by Meraki/Cisco occasionally to do this, I should probably do it!

      • Could be good for some soldering practice.

  • 'watching' the webinar now :)

    • Not much happening yet…

      • Just said something about how to claim your free thing I think, had my computer on mute so I missed it ):

        • Yea, they mentioned it. I've got sound on.

        • @Shaw: So what do ya got to do to claim it? :)

        • @ClipIt:

          Did you register earlier?

Just call them at the end apparently.

        • @Shaw: Yeah, I registered. Thought there might have been something more complicated.

        • @ClipIt:

Doesn't seem so, they seem pretty legit.

    • make sure to check out the switch webinar aswell,it's valued at like 1.5k (might be wrong) it happens 1 a month (may be wrong)

      • Also coming up on the 11th of January is a switch webinar to receive a free MS220-8P switch (RRP $1400).

        • Well, there you go, definitely worth it (also the webinars are fairly interesting)

Anyone got theirs setup? Unboxed mine today and just going through it now. Signal is really powerful for only an internal antenna.

    • Haven't had a chance to view Webinar yet, but definitely interested in the AP for work. What sort of traffic restrictions does it have? Could you limit external speeds but allow full-speed internal network speeds for clients?

Looks to be another free AP here for Hospitality: https://meraki.cisco.com/hospitalityoffer
