  • Thanks, got 6 bags of lentils and a can of air freshner.

    • No worries.

If you have any good recipes for lentils feel free to share.

      • 1st time I bought them in packets :) usually just get cans.

Lots of recipes online, I checked before ordering.

Thanks, just spend $17 stocking up on canned and dried chickpeas, lentils, red kidney beans. They will definitely think I'm a vegetarian. Very cheap

    • I saw the canned ones these, couldn't justify spending money on brine though!

      • I know what you mean, although they are good to use for convenience when quickly adding to meals and don't want to soak for hours beforehand or don't have the forethought to do so. Just a lazy day alternative….which happens a lot!

  • Chickpeas and mixed lentils are gone! :(

    • still there for me…

    • Were there mixed lentils?

  • they show there but you cant add to cart. Please send me link to the product if you can. cheers

oops sorry yellow lentils(my eyes do this in the evening lol)

  • We're sorry
That product is no longer available. Please see some alternative options below.

    Damn!

    • The chickpeas not in stock, funny, they all were just 5 minutes ago when I got the URL's.

      • thats a relief.. i was going crazy. On firefox it was showing ok but cart wasnt updating, but on chrome it gave above error.. cheers

        • +1

Chick peas are not adding to cart at the moment, went from in stock to out of stock, to be back in stock but not adding to cart properly.

EDIT Now have been removed, haha, site is getting cheapies'd

  • Lentils arrived on Friday.

And won one of those Edmonds cook books from a competition Neil posted.

There's a recipe for spicy lentil soup. I made a pot of it from scratch, and goddamn it was delicious. I swear with all the ingredients, cooking cost, and a 99c French stick from PaknSave I've eaten the past 3 nights for only $5 and I've frozen half of it.

    This is Choicecheapies living.

    • Care to share the recipe? Wouldn't mind trying something like that on a cold night.

Congrats on the win too, nice books to have.

      • Sure thing Shaw I've made an imgur here

I was missing the bacon bits, celery, curry powder(subbed with chilli powder), beef stock(subbed with 1 teaspoon of vegemite in water) as I just wanted to try making the soup as the book arrived same day.

One extra step I'd advice is wash lentils first to get rid of any starchy gunk, then microwave them in water for 5 mins. This softens them nicely. Then cook per recipe.

I don't cook, this was the first soup I've ever made. I will be making a lot more.

        • Awesome, cheers! Will save this for a rainy (And cold) day! Thanks!
