Best investment this winter! I bought 7 of them when it was $10 each!

You wear all 7 to keep yourself warm??

Power usage is at an all time low!

        • When you're in Dunedin, you have to think outside of the box lol

@davidtse916: I think if youre not living in a house in Dunedin that has current building codes…youre pretty much living in a box David :p

        • @bigbosssnake: when you have 10 thermals, you don't even need a box! :p

      • Now I can wear 10!

  • Do these absorb sweat? I have some other no brand, but they're not so good

    • Polyprop certainly nowhere near as good as quality fine wool merino thermals. Not as warm, light, and don't wick moisture out as well.

But they are significantly cheaper, long lasting (especially for kids) and make a good extra layer in cold windy conditions.

We usually keep a full spare set in the car emergency box for unexpected events.

    • Polyprop is like wrapping yourself in gladwrap.

Check out their termaplus range, as that's the next step up from this. They often have these on a special, but it's not as cheap as Polyprop.

      • Polyprop is like wrapping yourself in gladwrap

That's a very inaccurate analogy. Wearing gladwrap is a very different experience! Polyprop does wick some moisture, but not as well as other more expensive fabrics.

It is quite adequate for more sedentary or passive wear. May not be as suitable for very physical activities like mountain biking or trail running, where excellent wicking is more critical.

      • Still haven't changed your stance still last time, eh? I personally don't buy expensive thermal wear, but I find Poly pro perfectly fine, at least in comparison to my ~$10 warehouse gear which is really scratchy.

        • BTW Sorry to poach your deal, Toddy47. I deliberately left it for 5 hours after receiving the notification email. But nobody else had put it up by then so I thought I better given the time limited nature of the deal.

        • Polyprop hasn't changed its qualities since last time either.

If you happen to miss this sale, the Newmarket store always has plenty of clearance base layers, from Polyprop to Ultracore. IIRC the Newmarket store has a better selection because the store is relatively huge compared to the outlet store in Onehunga.

    • Another Kathmandu clearance store in Christchurch (Riccarton) in South Island (the 'other' New Zealand!)
