  • Something to note, the doorbell does not include a chime.

You can wire it into your existing one but otherwise it's just your phone notification or Amazon Echo's if you have those. Also take note of the sync module that you use. The Sync module 2 that comes with the multipack of outdoor 4s allows local USB storage whereas the sync module core free included with the doorbell has no local saves and will require the ongoing subscription to use.

I'm in a rental so these at the prices worked out for me as I already have Amazon Echo's. Also I installed 'Android TV Notifier' and set up Blink notifications to push and display on my TV. You can't see the live feed on there but at least prompts to look at your phone when required

    • The doorbell does have a chime - basically a speaker inside the unit. Although it's hard to hear if you're any distance away. It also has some sort of ability to wire to an external chime but this is based around american standards so not easy to interface to anything without electronic hackery. You can also configure the mini 2 and 2k cameras to chime if you have them sited indoors. Otherwise, yes you need an Alexa unit or phone to hear it. Or a Blink chime unit like this one https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/CCTBLI013231/Blink-Chime-Au…

    • As above - get one of the plug in mini cameras for around $20. It has an external speaker to do exactly this.

And a speaker would probably cost around the same.

  • when add the pack, no bonus item added, does it mean the door bell is OOS?

    • It means the off has ended I think. Certainly the NL one ended on 30/9.

      • yesterday I only see one item has door bell bonus at PBTech

      • The sync module core on that pack doesn't have a usb port and doesn't support local storage. So it's fairly useless without a fairly expensive monthly subscription.

  • I grabbed the two pack of wired 2K+ cameras for $24 today using a price beat with Noel Leeming.

Also be careful with the Outdoor 2K+ kits as the sync module does not have USB recording capabilities.

    • Mind sharing which wired 2k camere you grabbed for $24?

    • I did the same with the Noel Leeming deal a while back.

Two reasons - it can be used as an external speaker for the doorbell camera, and they (and the door bell) are also on a different license agreement which means that you can continue to "mute" them after the trial paid period expires. Which is super useful in areas you are likely to be using yourself frequently.

      • Yes I use them for chimes, in addition to the Echo Shows I got from Noel Leemings for $29 a pop (they can announce movment detections).

I use Home Assistant and the Blink integration to fill the void of not having a subscription such as automated arming of cameras, thumbnail updates and pulling the latest videos. With a number of 3d printed camera hoods and mounts I am so far very pleased with the my 7 camera setup for under $150. I almost forgot I also purchased rechargeable lithiums from Mighty Ape when they were $14.99 for 4 to keep running cost of the outdoor cameras down.

  • @inthiseconomy can you point to a PB tech web page that details the free doorbell offer? I can't seem to find it

    • It said it on the product page when I checked yesterday, it still has the bonus offer label on the page.
It would auto-add the doorbell to the cart. I guess it's out of stock?

  • This deal should be expired because the free doorbell is no longer available at either PB Tech or Noel Leeming as far as I can tell.

  • PBTech deal with free doorbell is back on, but price has increased to $85 for 3 pack
