  • Does anyone know if responding to short codes works on Mighty Mobile? Their website seems to indicate this does not work but Kogan also says the same and you have been able to respond to short codes with them for some time now.

    • Last year the answer was no. I'm presuming nothing has changed since (but I am not a MM customer).

    • I was with Kogan, and could reply to many of the short codes received (I guess all the free ones). But this year, switched to Mighty Mobile and was surprised to find that ALL short codes are blocked from replying :(

      • That's so weird. I'm a MM mobile customer and receive short texts for hospital appointments and reminder ones from Chemist Warehouse for scripts. Got one from them about 2 weeks ago, replied Y and the script was ready.

For hospital ones I've always replied to them with the usual Y to confirm the date and knowing the past issues with MM I followed up with a phone call and they said the appointments were booked. Last one received was around this time last year but expecting another short code next month as a reminder so we'll see what happens then.

        • Thanks Jennifer, I just tried to reply on a short code again and it looked like it sent, but just got a message to say that it did not get delivered.
I even contacted MM before to ask why Kogan ones went through but not their ones. They said there was nothing I could do about it.

          • @Debzsea: Nice, glad it’s working!

            • @jenniferp: Had to edit my original reply as it still doesn't work :( as I later got a message to say that my SMS didn't get sent after I wrote.
I wonder why yours works - are you using MMS instead?

              • @Debzsea: Not that I know of, I just type in the box either Y or N and hit send. It definitely shows "SMS" in the box, never got a bounce back saying the text reply had failed :(

          • @Debzsea: I got a short code text for a hospital appointment this am and replied to it. Rang them a few minutes ago to double check if they'd received it and they did. Wonder why yours aren't going through :(

  • (Cheapies should remember that the meanies have heavily capped the unlimited data benefit with any "hot- spotting/tethering" type methods. :( ).

    • Cheapies should also note that it is possible to bypass :)

      • Please enlighten us junior level Cheapies🙏 (PMed)

  • Ok, this looks interesting to some of us who would be new MM customers to trial it atleast speed wise performance , and save a reasonable sum of $s over the 6 months…

So the big question for us Cheapies in the denser apartment blocks in Auckland older suburbs, is : how do existing Cheapies on MM find the faster "UP TO 50mbps" plan for 4G default connection for consistent minimum speed levels ? (So in practice YT and media apps streaming video at atleast 1080p FHD or 4K resolution).

    • I live in an apartment block in Mt Wellington (new build), on MM Faster plan. Not sure how scientific this is but speedtest averaged between 49-50mbps on 4G (3 tests).
