  • Don't waste your time with it, my rate is almost double claiming the freebie and the broadband is 115 for what I pay 92$ with 2D for haha.

    • Yeah last time I looked at this deal it really doesn’t work out good for the customer. Better off finding the cheaper providers and getting the appliances on a 24 month interest free plan.

    • i was looking into them but thought its pretty stupid how they charge higher rates for these incentives. a company with morals would wear it as a marketing or lead generation expense. but i guess anything for a dollar in this country…

  • Please don't bother with these guys. I'm currently in a UDL dispute with them, they change pricing underhandedly often, and their customer service is the absolute worst. They cut power to me despite having a medical need, when it was their meters fault, but then blamed "acts of god" and told me it was a storm that caused it, even though others in my same house (divided into units) still had power. The free products you get from them are also seconds of lower tiered items - ask them for the exact model number - it's not quite what is advertised, if at all sometimes.

    • Precisely why I moved away from them. I have been with many other power companies but this one takes the cake for the worst customer service.

They took 4 months to reply my email and address the wrong charges eventhough I have been following up and calling them many times in those 4 months.

They worked out to be the cheapest for me, but I will never go back to them ever! Not worth the frustration and hours and hours spending on the phone.

  • Note that if you take the 24mth contract "free" appliance, or the 12mth contract "free" $300 you will be paying a higher rate than the non contracted rate.

  • I wouldn’t call this a cheapie deal… No saving at all as you end up paying the price of the freebie + more due to being locked into the higher power rates and broadband rates.

  • Bundled deal with Mercury (power, gas and BB) coming to end next month. Which is the cheapest for 500/100 BB and power (thinking of Octopus or Electric Kiwi)? Cheers

    • I've just signed up with Octopus, get connected on Monday. Had never heard of them before, but prices seem good enough, better than Powershop who I'm currently with anyway.

  • I actually had decent enough experience with them 🤷‍♀️ max broadband $106/mo and according to billy.govt.nz it’s tied for the best rate for electricity in my area.

Just make sure you actually want the stuff you’re getting, everyone and their dog tries to sell the same brand new soundbars and tvs on trademe, that’s the real cheapies deal 😂
