Register for access to create a will via Sharesies for $99

Was unsure if this one is best classed as a deal or should be moved to general discussion.

I registered some time ago and got my link today to create one.

I'm not sure I'm going to do it yet, so can't comment on that side of it. If anyone else has done it though, it might be interesting for others to post your experience.

    Note:

Sharesies Wills are a simple online will product that has been co-designed with legal experts to meet New Zealand legal requirements. However, Sharesies is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. This service is a "do-it-yourself" tool for straightforward estates.

A will by Sharesies costs $99 and can be edited for 30 days."

This reminds me I need to get mine printed and signed.
I used the free week with Safewill, it was also a do it yourself generated will and they appear to do a yearly free week in September.

I did the same, stoked to have it done for free.

Thanks for the heads up. Price is good.

Recommend everyone gets on with this (talking to me too as I need to). It's part of adulting and is important.
If you pass away without one of these it's much more involved for your family/friends etc to deal with afterwards, so you're really doing it for them rather than you.

Thanks for the info. A free service our family has used is https://wills.everywill.co.nz/

It's good for simple wills but has some flexibility too for leaving bequests etc.

    • If its a simple will, is it better to use the free one or the sharesies one? Are they pretty much the same as neither have legal review?

  • We have recently bought a house and are in the process of wanting to do a will. Lawyers want $345 per person hence this is much cheaper. However how does this work compared to the one that the lawyers prepare. Ours will be a pretty simple will just to avoid any public trust issues.

    • I suppose with the sharies will they don’t keep it archived for you?

And I don’t think sharsies provides any legal advice either but if it’s simple you should be fine, had one done for mum recently and it was fairly straight forward, but it was nice having the lawyer to explain jargon and give advice on what he’d think we would need coverage for and then he said he’d keep it on file for us so we didn’t need to save it at home somewhere.

    • Woah, when I brought my last house the laywer offered to do a basic will at the same time for free.

      • Yeah, same. I was expecting to pay but they said it's free and part of the service.

If you do a decent prompt in chatgpt, gemini, claude, you can get basic will done for free, not sure why would someone need to pay for it.

Ive done thisnwith Claude. Just said i need to create a will, and it asked me all the questions.
I then gave it to my lawyer who basically looked at it, confirmed its good, and signed it in front of them . No cost for the lawyer, as i bought a house and used them.

      • What a great use case for Claude. How much do lawyers charge for signing these days?

I guess on the bright side if it completely (profanity) it up (still very likely at this point) you'll be dead so it won't be your problem…

Do not trust AI to do things that will have a massive impact if done wrong.

      • This is why, once it has created a will. Get it checked over by a lawyer, and have them be the witness as well
