90

Reposting this deal as the last one was expired? but deal is still ongoing

Get up to $600 credit across 12 months ($50 per month) when you sign up for mobile and/or broadband with Contact.
Open term, no contract so leave whenever.
They use CGNAT but you can request for it to be disabled

Add broadband
Add broadband to your electricity account using promo code BROADBAND25 and get $25 off your power bill every month for a year.

Add mobile
Bring your mobile to Contact, pick an endless data plan and activate your SIM within 30 days to get $25 off your power bill every month for a year. (Just make sure you use the same name and email address and your energy account.)

How does the energy credit work?
Once your broadband service is connected, you'll receive twelve monthly $25 energy credits (totalling $300 including GST).
If you also add mobile services and activate your SIM within 30 days, you'll receive twelve monthly $25 energy credits (totalling $300 including GST). That's a total of $600 in credits.
On your bill, each $25 credit will show as $21.74 excluding GST on your PDF bill and $25 including GST on your digital bill.

To maximise this deal the cheapest eligible plans are:
Broadband - Lite Fibre 100/20Mbps @ $60 per month. After credit it's essentially $35 per month
Mobile - Small 5GB max speed, then endless reduced speeds @ $35 per month. After credit it's essentially $10 per month

The previous deal would have expired because no expiry date was loaded, meaning it auto-expires after 45 days.
I've reported this one as a long running deal which will mean it won't expire once the mods add the tag.

    • Oh that makes sense, thanks for the clarification

Any idea if they offer static ip? I cannot find it on their website.

    • +1

They don't, but you can request cgnat to be disabled for a dynamic IP.

      • Oh that's a shame.

        • +1

If you use a dynamic dns service it works pretty much the same, I run a jellyfin server on Contact just fine.

  • Moved both my broadband and mobile over. $45pm for the medium plan is $20 after discount ($8 cheaper than the mighty mobile fast plan which is now discounted rate of $28).

On the free power 9-5pm so blast the EV charging during then. The rest of the power usage is pricy but hopefully not too much used during the day.

  • (Cheapies watch out for this catch before you calculate and decide to switch providers to this Contact Energy promo or any other provider / plan : the low user daily charge fee for this promo plan (in Auckland here atleast) is $1.75 or so per day, (ncluding GST!). Now if your currently with a few of the Independent Power Provider plans, especially if you've been with them for awhile, you may check and see your still at a much lower "$1.15" or so daily charge fee per day. (Again thats my knowledge for some here in Auckland). So of course you need to calculate that in for comparing this Contact bundle promo is for starters $219 per year more , so ÷ by the 12 months close on $18.25 extra per month !).

    • True but I compared to Genisis when I moved from Frank and COntact were slighly higher, Genisis want daily $1.6733 and $0.3287 but with contact I get 9am to 5pm saturday and sunday free which is when we do our clothes washing and drying so I guess it kind of makes up for it.

Yah, free weekend hours makes a huge difference.
Im currently at 50% free power just by leaving washing, drying, dishwasher, charging tool batteries etc until the weekend.

        • just wondering if it's worth swapping from 2degrees to save some money a month

        • Wow that's impressive! I thought I was doing well at about 15% doing all the washing and drying when necessary. Do you also cook all your meals for the week?

          • +1

@cutcutcut: No, its been rising from 30% to my last bill of 50%
Its just me so i can control what gets used during the week easily.
Normally when I cook during the week its a meal that feeds me for 3 nights
I do run dehumidifier in free hours and heatpump, so it is squewed slightly as i potentially use more things in weekend purely because its free.
Its working out well though I expect the % to drop over winter

    • Same here, I signed up to the free weekend plan ~2years ago, broadband + low power. I recheck my current rates with their new rates, I am roughly ~$40 more/per month worst off, if I rejoin just for the " $25 credit."

  • Anone know if you can get the One NZ satellite txting if going through a Contact mobile plan contract on the One NZ network? I am currently with One NZ and have been using the satellite txting often since I work and play in remote locations

    • +1

I don't believe so. There's no mention of satellite anywhere nor is it an option as an add on

      • You get Starlink free with Kogan Mobile via One NZ though.

  • Any existing Contact power, broadband and mobile customers had any luck getting this? With one of the promos last year I was told I couldn't get the credit as I already had broadband and mobile… If so, what wording did you use to get it? Otherwise, what is the incentive to stay with them…
