Add Broadband and/or Mobile to Your Electricity Plan and Get up to $50 Credit a Month for 12 Months ($600) @ Contact Energy

160

Probably one of their better offers so far?
Get up to $600 credit across 12 months ($50 per month) when you sign up for mobile and/or broadband with Contact.
Open term, no contract so leave whenever.
They use CGNAT but you can request for it to be disabled

Add broadband
Add broadband to your electricity account using promo code BROADBAND25 and get $25 off your power bill every month for a year.

Add mobile
Bring your mobile to Contact, pick an endless data plan and activate your SIM within 30 days to get $25 off your power bill every month for a year. (Just make sure you use the same name and email address and your energy account.)

How does the energy credit work?
Once your broadband service is connected, you'll receive twelve monthly $25 energy credits (totalling $300 including GST).
If you also add mobile services and activate your SIM within 30 days, you'll receive twelve monthly $25 energy credits (totalling $300 including GST). That's a total of $600 in credits.
On your bill, each $25 credit will show as $21.74 excluding GST on your PDF bill and $25 including GST on your digital bill.

To maximise this deal the cheapest eligible plans are:
Broadband - Lite Fibre 100/20Mbps @ $60 per month. After credit it's essentially $35 per month
Mobile - Small 5GB max speed, then endless reduced speeds @ $35 per month. After credit it's essentially $10 per month

  • great deal

  • I'm on this one and its a primo deal, open terms for everything too.

  • Wow, that is very nice. Do you guys know if they have static IP service?

    • +1

Not sure about static IP but they will certainly turn off CGNAT.

I already have bundled (power + broadband) with them, gave them a call if possible for them to apply the $25/month promo but they said no. Broadband currently on 500/100 for $90/month.

    • shouldve gone with Mercury, atleast couldve got a free Samsung item.

      • But isn't it quite a bit more expensive? I'm lazy to compare the rates :P

        • Mercury prices are pretty similar. Im with Contact on free nights
Did the calculation as thinking of switching.

This deal isnt really that good as their broadband seems expensive and its not very reliable when i had it

        • +1

Ultimately if you are looking for cheaper power, the $300 (or $600 credit a year) makes Contact a fair bit cheaper.

I did a whole thing just a month ago comparing rates between the big power providers as I was getting real tired of PowerShop's system of gamifying the power packs, and the big outcome on Mercury is that I don't think you get as much free power as Contact, and the difference in rate and the term that you are locked in for (2 years) means you are literally just buying the 'free' samsung item over the course of two years.

Not to mention that if you check the actual RRP of the free SKUs it's typically a good 30% or 40% cheaper in stores especially if you buy them on promotion.

So combining the free power nights and the $600 credit, Contact is a way more compelling deal. For reference, based on my usage, Contact is at $3.2k annually, Mercury is at $3.8k.

I checked and the Contact “low user” rates are the same as what I’m paying with Mercury.

    • Could you add a mobile on the lowest plan?

      • That is what they suggested but I'm already in Kogan buy 1 get 1 plan for 1 year

  • +2

solar buy-back rates contact 8c/kWh (17c/kWh octopus for example)

Used $300 mobile and $300 broadband credit (7x$150). But you are locked in for 12-months now!

Broadband speeds are pretty average and daily charges for power have gone through the roof.

Signed up for Octopus NZ for power and Quic for broadband.

  • My power has been with Mercury since they took over Flick. Paying about $130-$140 per month for a 2 pax household.

Paying $50/month for broadband with Zeronet.

Phone plan's locked in with Kogan which has been unbeatable.

Should I bother considering switching up my broadband and power? Kinda lazy to start comparing.. is it worth my time taking a look at?

    • Really comes down to you. If you're happy with your current setup, why bother.

    • How did you get Zeronet for $50 a month? I am with them and my broadbands just gone up to $65 a month.

  • Deal sounds pretty appealing especially since the power rates are the same as what I’m on now with Mercury.

I am moving to a new place and need a new fibre connection but kind of reluctant to pay the $4 modem rental so need to research what kind of BYO modems would work for a 300/100 connection. If anyone has recommendations (although off topic), keen to read them 🙂
