    Ah I figured out my mistake. If your cart contains a gift voucher you cant enter any codes. I had a gift voucher and some other items. I didn't expect it to apply a discount to the gift voucher, but it was stopping me enter any code entirely. I needed to do two transactions, one with the gift voucher alone, and another with the products and the code.
