Amazon AU - Any Tips on Getting to Free Shipping Thresholds?

Looing to get something on Amazon.com.au but it's below the free shipping threshold.

Any ideas of what I could get to bring me up to the $59 AUD threshold for free shipping?

Would prefer to get "essential items" rather than waste money to "save" on shipping.

I usually buy grocery items if I need to top up my orders, sometimes treats but most of the time everyday normal grocery items that I'd be buying from our local supermarket anyway. Things like coffee beans, roasted nuts, dried fruits, spices, canned food etc

    Coffee

    • +1.

  • Avoid baby food, I had some flagged at the border and had to provide proof it was baby food I had ordered. Maybe I was just unlucky, but it was a PITA to sort.

  • Toothpaste, shampoo, laundry sanitizer, aa batteries

  • Batteries are a good one. AA and AAA energizer are way cheaper esp on sale, button batteries too. Other things I buy regularly are scub daddy sponge multipacks,

    • Interesting, I just tried to search CR2032 batteries and there were almost no options shipping to NZ

      • Wow you're right I can't seem to find CR3032 that will ship. The last ones I bought were LR44s.

Some (quite some!) years ago I worked at a company that imported batteries from China and wholesaled them in NZ, but we gave up on it as the safety regulations were just creating too much uncertainty as to whether we would be liable for various potential issues.

The profit margin was thin (although we did sell a LOT of them to retailers as we were doing it at very little return), and we really only carried on doing it as a service to customers (as long as we weren't losing money, then why not - they bought our batteries and often other stuff at the same time), but the regs just made it not worth the risk.

After we stopped, everyone had to source elsewhere and put their prices up of course.

  • Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face Lotion Sunscreen 88mL
    Meross Smart Plugs+Energy Monitor
Spare screen protectors for your iPhone, example here but there's a fix around $10

  • Roll on deodorant or tooth brush heads
