  • Wow these are great. I'm hoping to go late June and return mid July, seems like the discounts don't go that far yet. Do you know if they might, if I wait it out?

    • Yeah, the Chinese airlines seem to release deal fares 3-6 months at a time, so fingers crossed. Of course, school holidays can impact the prices too, so just be aware of those dates.

      • True, thank you for that tip.

13th may to the end of 4th is even better at 704! Bargain. 12 hour layover on way home to auckland though. Hotels are very cheap we paid like 30 bucks for one.

Did you set it to NZD? I think the $704 is when it loads in AUD.

      • Oh your right. Good spot.

I've been checking flights to Thailand the past year, I noticed the flights for the coming 2-3 weeks are almost always the cheapest so if you're flexible it might be the best to wait 2 weeks before booking, I think they're trying to fill seats at the last minute. 3 weeks ago it was only $860 for flights this week. Otherwise 1 month out is the next cheapest around $980-$1100 by Hainan. The cheapest I've seen is $730 in November for multiple days, I think also by Hainan.

  • is it good weather to travel thailand these dates..never been to thailand would love to go…

    • Depends on whether you’re heading to north, central, or beachy Thailand but generally speaking late April/May onwards in monsoon season so aim for February to early April if you want the least chance of rain.

(That being said, Thailand is incredible no matter the weather)

Hi, Can you set up price alerts for routes on your site? Keen to get notified when my route and dates go on sale

  • What are these Chinese airlines like to fly on for long haul? As painful as Air NZ, better, or even worse?

    • They were good last two times I went, if you get stuck in China at an odd hour for the lay over then the currency conversion places are closed and make sure to download google translate or something similar to communicate. If you are okay with a short lay over to wait at the airport then you have nothing to worry about it was fine

They give you food and snacks which were above average for airplane food. Plane was nearly empty on my leg from Auckland to China so I had a whole row to myself which was nice.

  • Just picked up flights to Milan on Hanian Airlines for $1500 each for the July school holidays. 20 and 22 hour layover on Shenzhen which is a great way to break up the flights for the kids both ways.
Pretty sure accommodation is included aswell.
