Inflation with these prizes is very high compared to previous ones, pretty sure the Chook was $1 or $2 in previous ones.. The points are really the best thing to win IMO. AT least it is better than that Christmas promo they ran.
They were trying to clear all the non-meat products they had last time (or time before possibly). They had hundreds in freezers all over - particularly the chicken ones (and you had to wait while they defrosted them most of the time).
