shit things must be really bad at T7!

I suspect it's more likely they can't guarantee christmas delivery anymore so start the sale early. It even says on the website deliveries will be delayed 'due to high demand' - more like a poor supply chain.

      • Their poor supply chain is just NZ post lol. When i used to order from warehouse like 2 to 5 items, theyd courier across the country in individual. Once ordered like laundry powder and one came from chch to sylvia park for pick up and the other came down from whangarei to make up the other.

I heard Kmart is deliverying in a similar fashion.

Aren't they closing all of their physical stores early next year? Therefore make sense for them to clear as much stock as possible.

    • Hasn't this been pretty much the ongoing sale for a couple of weeks now? Just with a few items lines added. Was when I happened tonwlai past the CHCH store last week(ish).

They are trying to clear their remaining retail store stock I expect. I also saw a bunch of their stuff in the "clearance" store at their old location in the Papanui strip mall thing.

Of course when your model is "say retail price is 30-80% more than ever expect to sell it for, then "discount" big" the "clearance" price being 40% off isn't much of a deal.

The RRPs here are egregious. I am so tired of these Briscoes sales models.

    • +1

Yeah whilst there are some really good deals if you track them down, some are both very limited in stock (likely to be cancelled order) and/or the RRP is not reflective of something like pricespy.

The RRP is probably accurate, as set by the supplier/manufacturer on their catalogue/price book, but a lot of these products haven’t been sold at that high price in the market for quite some time at most stores.

      • +3

Lol. They import it themselves. So they set the RRP (which means nothing when you are the only store stocking it).

        • +1

Their products yes, but I’m referring to the 40% off everything else.

    • No GoPro search results at all now.

      • With such a good deal as that, you gotta be in quick………

I'll wait for the Easter sale next week

      Lol

  • I'd be pretty hesitant about making any substantial purchases through T7. The writing seems to be on the wall

My kid has wanted a new bike helmet for ages - specifically the Fox Speedframe. Got it last night for $132 instead of $220 so that's a massive win.

  • The extra % off clearance could be worth a browse. Some higher end snow gear with decent discounts.

Thanks! Bought some hiking shoes, good price

    • Oh what did you buy? I'm thinking of asking for some good hiking shoes but I'm not sure where to start with them. Are all the torpedo7 stocked ones ok?

        Salomon are pretty reliable generally.

      • +1

As the other commentator mentioned. Salomon are pretty great. Ended up going with with these:
        https://www.torpedo7.co.nz/salomon-aero-blaze-3-grvl-gtx-men…

Threw a few options into perplexity, told it I needed a hybrid running and hiking shoe, got told to go with these. Have tried them for a couple days, really comfy and lightweight.

  • What are the chances that they will have a storewide 50% like before

  • Going to buy a kids’ bike tomorrow. Is this the cheapest I can get? Are there any HNZ, gift cards, or promo codes I can use?

  • I ordered a Trek in store yesterday. Called them up, said I needed to come in to place the order. Then got a call at 4pm saying they were no longer permitted to sell Trek bikes and I need to come in again for a refund back to my card. Pain to have to go into Westfield Newmarket at Xmas time to get my money back so I can buy a bike somewhere else.

I bought a gas stove which is labelled RRP: $59.99 but was charged $74.99 because it was "originally" $149.99. Annoyingly I only checked the receipt after I had already left the store but when I went back, the person at the counter refunded me no problems. I checked the shelves and some of the other stoves had holes in their shrink wrap where black marker was used to obscure the RRP label. So definitely seems like some intentional price manipulations are going on. And yes, I reported them to ComCom.

    • I was astounded at some of the rrp on some of the camping gear when I was at the Albany store on Friday. Even with 50% off their array of camping chairs and furniture seemed at the high end of the scale.
