Ozito PXC 36V (2 x 18V) 460mm Brushless Lawn Mower Kit (Mower + 4x 4.0Ah Battery) $429 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Bunnings

80

I know nothing about this mower or the normal price but thought worth posting since the $399 Ryobi post got some attention and IMO the extra batteries and steel deck make this quite attractive to those not already deep in the Ryobi ecosystem, and possibly others regardless.

460mm (18”) Cutting width – greater coverage area with every mowing pass
Steel deck – this will ensure excellent product life in tough conditions
9-Position height adjustment – this allows you to cut your grass to the desired height
3 in 1 - catch, mulch or spread grass
Spare battery mounts - additional two battery mounts are available for battery storage for your convenience

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals.

Why don't they make them from alloy decks these days? My 20 year old alloy decked B&S mower is still going well, no rust either due to being alloy. Or maybe that is the reason, they last too long? Back in teh day steel decks always used to be the cheaper option for mowers over alloy.

    • Yeah, my Lawnmaster Legend is alloy and is 15 years old and still in good nick. My previous Bronco I inherited also lasted about that long and the repair shop said a lot of people's don't because they leave them out in the rain…

I am tempted by this though as it has $300 worth of batteries with it and I am already in the market for some of their other skins. But I feel I'd have to keep my Lawnmaster as well for when I need the extra grunt its much more powerful Briggs & Stratton 190cc engine can produce.

TBH until my petrol one dies, (Viking made by Stihl) I'll just keep using it, as it is probably more eco friendly to do so even if it uses fuel to run it. Plus it is grunty and cuts well, and just replaced the blade on it for $30

    • I have to assume it’s just a cost thing. But that said aluminium has always been way more expensive. Paint/coatings have come a long way so maybe they have more confidence in the steel decks now, or maybe they just figure other parts are gonna fail long before the deck does.

Thanks! Been wanting to get a steel deck Ozito mower for a while now just waiting for a sale. Today is my lucky day.

I had been waiting for a sale on the gray body one at $499.

Seeing as these ones look very similar spec wise, I went to the store to have a chat.

After and extended discussion with a member of staff, I learned that:

    • This bundle does not have a normal listing price because it is only sold during promotion.
    • The mower itself is the same spec wise, the differences are all extra features:
      • It is red instead of gray.
      • It has a carry handle on the front bow of the deck.
      • It comes with 2 extra batteries.
      • It comes with a mulching attachment, so it can blend the grass to dust and dump it down.
      • It is has an ejection port and comes with a discharge attachment, so you can have it eject grass out the starboard side, blended or not.

Of course I bought one, I can follow up with how it runs if anyone is interested.

Also, there are other items on sale in store that are not listed on the website. e.g. Jet blower or line trimmer, same price as skin but includes extra battery and charger.

I'm interested to hear how you go. We have a Ryobi one but need a new battery, at over $250 for a pack I'm tempted to just sell the thing and get an ozito as I have an abundance of those batteries already.

Also considering starting to mulch our grass from time to time to try and help the health of the lawn and speed up mowing not emptying the thing every couple of minutes.

    • Also picked up this mower and gave it a run last night.
My previous mower was an old petrol Lawnmaster. Petrol mowers are obviously more powerful, but I honestly didn’t notice any lack of power with the Ozito on my lawn. It gave a clean cut and didn’t feel like it was struggling at all.

I haven’t tried it yet on wet or really long grass, but early signs are good. The mulching attachment worked well too, chopping everything up finely and leaving nothing visible on the lawn.

Keen to hear how you find it.

    • I will test it over a year and see if I need my Lawnmaster's 190cc at any point. Hopefully this will do everything I need.

One of the staff there had the other model and said he was quite pleased with it.

Just mowed the lawn with this for the first time, conditions are dry sunny after a few days of heavy rain.

I can say with certainty, unless it craps out in less than a year, I am 100% happy with it.

      • It cuts overgrown damp grass just fine, plenty of power.
      • Is very light to lift
      • One pair of batteries took care of the whole property (200sqm of grass) with around half cap remaining.

I haven't used the catch bag but it may come in handy if there will be children or pets around. Mulching is simple and efficient, there are no clumps anywhere on the lawn as it is fine and spread evenly. Unless you have an animal to roll around on the grass you will not know.

It does everything just fine but it also doesn't shine at any job in particular. So far the only things I think can be improved are that:

      • The wheels could be more "bushy" for rough terrain.
      • It isn't perfect around walled edges especially with the ejection port open to get in the way. Having a line trimmer handy is recommended.
  • Thank, I grabbed one too! I dipped my toes with and have been using the tiny Ozito one, so this should make mowing a bit quicker with the wider deck (and a bit safer not being plastic!).

  • Any suggestions between this model and Roybi one?

  • i had a 150 cc petrol mover and it died few days ago after about 5 years of use it was 2nd hand I got this one and i must say its very good . i dont have a lot of lawn just out side my home walkway strip and its performance is comparable to my old petrol mover
the battery goes about 20 mins ish or so , and it does heat up after use ,
two battery charger takes about 80 ish mins to charge .
the side discharge is very good via access . mulch function is suitable for smaller growths . via mulch plug .
it does not collect all the grass clippings but its not bad .
i think if you have decent size lawn you should get this one as it has enough power and it comes with 4 batteries makes it a worth replacement to a petrol lawn mover .

if your lawn takes 40 mins to move, this set will be good

  • Grabbed this to consolidate battery systems.

I've been using a Greenworks 40v steel deck brushless mower for the past year or so.

Build quality for the Greenworks is light years ahead of the ozito. In particular the dinky wheels and height adjustment system. Ozito feels like a flimsy toy in comparison.

On the plus, Ozito motor feels a bit more snappy and responsive with perhaps a higher RPM.

Will see how it plays out and then sell one or the other.
