  • Nice one. I was eyeing some of their phones…
Was waiting the prices to drop for black Friday or at least have a large banner on top. They have done it sneakily…

    • what phone do you reckon is a good steal? not that i need one but just wondering 🤣

      • +1

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB - Black Titanium - Grade 1 for example $1200, I brought a max grade 2 a year ago. It was in mint condition.

        • Are these reconditioned or something?
          How does this site work?
From memory it's related to Telecom/Spark?

          • +1

@Jaxson: I don't exactly know about all of them, but the ones I've had have had no new screens or batteries and appeared to be in mint condition. Battery level is around 90 to 92%. And yes, talk is cheap is a spark company.

      • I'm using oppo x5 pro. Bought them at circa half price when they just came out. Still was $1000.
It is all the phone I need and at $460 it must be best but for buck against modern upper budget phones

        • +1

I have the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom I've had it for nearly 5 years. It was a clearance from Noel lemmings for $275. Excellent phone with the quirky pop-up camera still going strong. Those were the days came with a fast charger , good quality earphones, and high-quality case.

    Damn, I ordered a Fold 5 256gb about a week ago for $999.00.
    This would've saved me $170.00 if I waited…
Not all phones are reconditioned. A lot of phones are sold New, or are refurbished with a rating of Grade 1 or Grade 2 (this is explained on the site, to which the phones may show signs of mild use).
Bought a Grade 2 a couple of years ago, and to be honest, you can not tell it was refurbished at all.
Very quick shipping as well. I ordered, and I think the phone was shipped and had arrived in 1-2 days (their offices are I think in Mount Wellington).
Yes, these guys are affiliated with Spark.

Yep, same with me, bought three phones now excellent service. I've had a warranty claim on a phone cover , they phoned me up sent me a new one immediately no problem. The funny thing it was one of those recycled iPhone covers, and it basically disintegrated before I even used it. It just fell into pieces and they then discovered they were all like that.

    • The last thing I need is a new phone but I've always wanted to play with a foldable and feel pretty tempted at that price.

Is the camera as bad as some in the Internet make out?

      • +1

Honestly, for $830, I think it's an absolute steal.
I've been eyeing up a Fold for about 3 years. Even PB Tech's Black Friday sale is about $1,250 for the Fold 5

I don't prioritize cameras, cos I use my phone to watch videos and read articles.

I would say the camera is good enough, as in, let's be honest, if you want the best pictures possible, you'd get the iPhone of another Android flagship :)

I say get the Fold for media consumption.
But be ready for the thickness of the phone! Unless you're getting a Fold7.

        • +2

          That was convincing enough. Ordered.

Hard not to at that price.

          • +1

@Gwigglesnz: Haha, not my intent, but I myself an super gutted about the saving I could've had.
Insane price honestly. You get security updates until end of 2028, too.

            Glad you got it!

            • +5

@bane1991: Sorry mate. I'm blaming you.

I've got your details ready to pass onto the wife when she notices the payment on the card.

      • Just ordered on myself.

Wanting the oppo n3 but still nearly double price on sale at PB Tech

  • +1

Thanks OP just picked up a 15 pro for the wife.

    • What made you chose 15 pro over 16? Currently tossing up between the two for myself!

      • Was a couple hundred cheaper I think and my wife liked the white colour lol. I was trying to sell her on the 15 pro max but she didn't like the black. Phone arrived today, box was a little tarnished but the phone is like new and at 100 percent battery health so that's a win right there.

        • What did you pay for yours? Im currently tossing up between the iPhone 15 pro ($1162) or iPhone 16 (1240) after the discount. Both grade 1 both 256gb. Struggling to decide!

        • Ha or maybe I’ll get the 15 pro max. Hadn’t really been considering that one but does look good for only a bit more (1245)

          • @thats mum life: Heck yeah I'm tempted too! Just bought an s25 ultra tho ($830 on Samsung EEP store) so maybe not haha. The 15 pro 256 was $1162. She was upgrading from a 2021 iPhone SE so massive leap in tech there. My wife cares very little for tech (unlike me I'm obsessed), but she is very impressed with the phone. There was a 15 pro max grade 1 for 1212 ish after discount but that's gone now I think. Good luck with your purchase :) maybe early Xmas present? Haha

            • +1

@Donnycrane: Upgrading from an 11 so likewise I’ll be a big jump. Gone with the 15 pro 256 for $1162 as well. Looking forward to its arrival! Thanks for your thoughts!

            • @Donnycrane: Was that with trade in for the s25 Ultra???

              • @L3tstaxth1s: Yeah bonus 600 off for trade in ($0 itself for old trade in phone) and some other coupon stacking. I see some ppl here got better deals but at that price I had to do it. Strong regret tho as I didn't realize Samsung stopped making the smart flip/wallet covers for the s25 series. Been using these covers for years and life without them is sad haha.

Almost tempted to keep my old s22 plus so I can keep the cover but already promised to my dad haha!

Phone itself seems ok tho :)

Buds 2 for $79 delivered is a good deal for Samsung owners.

    • Yeah i had to pull the trigger on the earbuds. Been eyeing them up at $99 for ages and the pair I have has been amazing so 2x amazing is betterist.

      • +1

I've had a pair since the S22 launch, got an upgrade to buds 3 pro with my last phone which is a nice upgrade in sound quality, the old buds 2 are now work earbuds. My only gripe with the 2s are without anc on the audio isn't that nice, and I don't always want anc on in daily use.

Ordered another pair for my wife at this price as they are better than anything off Ali express at this price point. The seamless switching between phones and tablets is pretty handy as well.

        • Ahhh i have never actually listened to them with ANC off haha. Yeah had them since launch with my s22 Plus, they have been epic and I have been scouring the interwebs for replacements but why replace when you can just get the same again!

Was looking at the Pro 3's but im not feeling that design. I like how i can sleep with these in (in a pinch) and can get away with not taking them out to listen to the flight attendants spiel for the nth time.

Also still have the OG Buds + which are awesome, good base and much further bluetooth range than the buds 2 but the battery is finally dying on those and of course no ANC.

Also finally just threw out my Gear Icon's from 2016. They were revolutionary and the onboard storage was fire, alas the batteries on those were long gone.

          • +1

@Donnycrane: You cant unhear them once youve tried with anc off, in their new role as office buds generally its anc mode only now.

The dual drivers on the 3 pro do sound nicer and hindsight i wish i had the 2 pros when i got the s22 as it was an option for not much more money. We managed to sell a free pair of normal buds 3 for $120 so picking these up we are still $40 up and I think we have the better buds. Why they dropped the silicone tips on the 3 seriesmi don't know.

  • Thanks! I had been eyeing the HK Onyx 7 for Xmas. We have the Onyx 5 which is going strong 5 years since purchase (doesn't need replacement at all) but we are in a situation we need two speakers to talk to each other. For just over $200 for 2 not too bad! Especially if they last the 5ish year the Onyx 5 has!

    • In my experience, the pairing between two Onyx speakers is pretty bad. I’ve found they need to have direct line of sight with each other or close proximity otherwise the Bluetooth connection is unstable and it cuts in and out a bunch.

This was with the Onyx 5 & 6 speakers, so maybe they’ve been improved since then, but don’t be surprised if the experience isn’t great :/

      • Hmmm here is hoping! But thanks for the heads up!

  • I am missing something with the pricing, for example
    *$2,150 - IPHONE 16 PRO 512GB - DESERT TITANIUM - GRADE 1
    *$2,157 - IPHONE 16 PRO 512GB - DESERT TITANIUM - GRADE 2

There are other instances of similar pricing where it just doesn't make sense. Am i missing something?

    • No, that's the way they seem to price things on Apple iPhones. As the 15 sell out they will drop the price of the 16. It's just a change over period of the new models. I think the deals are more about buying the older models rather than buying them off a trademe reconditioner where the phone is actually more of a Chinese third parties parts phone rather than an genuine iPhone.

      • Maybe my point wasnt obvious, why is the grade 2 device not reasonably cheaper than the grade 1 device? The device in the example is in theory exactly the same, aside from the grade 1 being in better condition than the grade 2.

        Other examples,

        • $2,000 - IPHONE 16 PRO 1TB - DESERT TITANIUM - GRADE 1
        • $2,564 - IPHONE 16 PRO 1TB - DESERT TITANIUM - GRADE 2

        • $1,400 - IPHONE 15 PRO 256GB - NATURAL TITANIUM - GRADE 1
        • $1,520 - iPhone 15 Pro 256GB - Natural Titanium - Grade 1
        • +1

It's normal for anomalies in pricing on talkischeap.co.nz.

        • +1

What happens is the 16 grade 2 might’ve come in a few weeks ago and the grade one was recent The same thing happens with the 15. Will see one at 1500 and the other 1450. They add phones every few days and can be a lower price than the model that is already there.

  • Are the phones locked to Spark?

    • No open to all networks,,got my pro max 15 grade 1 $1200 ,came with a free wallet case.phone is new and registration for 12 months Apple warranty

      • Cool. Just ordered the Fold5 New 😀
