2023? So prices will be about double that?? I can't get over that a "cheesy pleaser" is $8. Even when it was $4.50 when it came out I thought it was expensive for what it is.

      • Thats why I dont go to McDonald's anymore…. Too pricy

Same . I been going to Carl's Jr .. they become more value for money . I got the Burger Box , free jim bean burger and free burger for survery all for $10. Why go to Maccas and buy 2 shitty cheeseburgers for $8

I actually think McDonald’s is still pretty affordable with the deals they offer frequently, especially compared to countries like the US or the Netherlands (which I visit quite often).

Not saying it hasn’t gotten more expensive over the years, it definitely has, but I can still get a medium combo for around $14, which easily fills me up for lunch. And honestly, $14 for lunch these days doesn’t seem bad at all.

        • I have just returned from the US. I was absolutely shocked at the cost of food.
A basic eg and something that is easily compared with NZ was on the way home we had Wendy's at the Airport.
Two of us had the same burger combo… Beef burger which included a small pattie, slice of cheese, slice of tomato, slither of lettuce, regular fries, regular drink. Total cost equivalent for both $55 NZD.

@wowbigdeal: isn't airport food always overpriced, especially in USA?

            • @moreroastpork: Yes regarding airports. I wouldn't have thought by that much though. As I mentioned that was the closest to an NZ example we did. Overall I was still shocked by the prices of food in restaurants and supermarkets.

Regarding tips, not at this Wendys outlet. But yes, basically everywhere else that we experienced. 15% - 23% is what I saw pop up on payment screens.

          • @wowbigdeal: food in america is pretty expensive, no wonder 40 million people are on food stamps (winz)

        • Yes but only with the deals. But the quality is poor, in terms of things like the burgers not even being hot. That seems to be due to the way the now prepare and store them. But far cheaper to just buy food from the supermarket and heat it up.

      • Was $3 for two cheese burgers back in the paper coupon days around 2013ish

        • Back in the early 90s they were 85c for a hamburger and 95c for a cheeseburger. I remember the TV ad saying this was their normal price and not for a limited time. I read 'not for a limited time' being 'an unlimited time'. I wish I could find that ad to see if there were any small print Ts&Cs

            @chchnz99: Mid 90s was.
            Monday $0.50 hamburgers
            Tuesdays $1 cheeseburgers
            Wednesdays $2 Mc Chickens

            • @Avatar: The amount of customers of Indian-descent that would order McChickens on a Wed was insane. Good on them for taking advantage of the deal but I don't think they realised that the chicken patties were fried in beef tallow. McDs changed to vege oil circa 2004.

            • @Avatar: It reminds of me that there was a Mcdonalds at Waikato Uni campus in 2000s. But I recalled Monday and Tuesday special both were $1, Wednesday might be $3 so I never purchased on Wednesday.

              • @acrobat: @acrobat same AUT used to have Maccas on campus in the early 2000's. Used to do student deals too

      • I thought it was $4 when it first came out. It seems to go up 50 cents each time I open the app as I always check your much it has gone up by.
I remember you could also get two Big Mac’s for $5 around 2000
