  • nowhey via xplosiv (2x 1kg), 85.50 delivered using code TEAMGG.
or there was this post last week (https://www.cheapies.nz/node/53346)

    • Cannot see a box to put in the code, could you double check?

      • go to your cart and there's a section for 'Enter coupon code'

    • Only banana flavour available, is it any good?

  • If you don't mind plant protein, I usually get the NoWhey plant protein from Xplosiv when they have it in stock. They do a twin pack with 2x 1KG bags for $44.95 excluding shipping:

If I recall it's roughly 22 grams protein per 30g serve

    • I've tried this one and it tastes so shit. Are there any better tasting plant based protein?

There probably are better tasting ones. They've changed the formula recently supposedly.

Personally I treat it like medicine and just drink it quickly or blend it with other ingredients. I'd rather have a cheap price than worry about taste haha.

  • Not the cheapest but if brand matters. For Optimum Nutrition gold standard, go to Bargain Chemist and price beat Chemist Warehouse. You should be able to get it for $109.79 after price beat

Both Bargain & CWH only do 10% of the price difference - not 10% less than the competitors price.
With CWH being $0.50 cheaper you will only save $0.05.
      Probably not worth the hassle!

      • Oops thanks for the clarification. Never done a price beat from Bargain Chemist before so good but also disappointing to know it’s only 10% off the difference

  • I know it's not currently on sale, but the INC 2kg regularly goes on sale at Chemist Warehouse for anywhere between $45-60. It actually tastes alright too, and whey is much better than compromising on plant protein.

  • Yes its taste good also, but its for 129 at this stage. No clue when its going to be on sale

Not the cheapest but tastes nice.

Musashi 900g $39.99 at a few PNS stores + pricematch at The Warehouse. Has been cheaper too. Can also pricebeat at Chemmy Warehouse

Just for general discussion, I thought I'd add this:

Add a little milk powder to the protein powder in your shaker. Super cheap as a 1kg bag lasts forever, and it makes it taste sooooooooo much better. Helps with the calories too if you struggle to get enough like myself.

I use INC and it tastes more like a milkshake than a protein shake. I've put a few mates onto doing it and they're all converted now.

    • full cream milk powder?

      • +3

That's the one. Which ever is cheapest at the supermarket, it's all the same. It's just to make it taste creamier.

Afterwards, you can change your username to justaddmilkpowder

If you happen to be in CHCH (or where they have another location) SaveMore in Papanui have large (around 20 serves) of powder for $11.

Chocolate plabt based, caramel plant based, and strawberry with collagen (milk I think).

They had heaps, but around half gone between the couple of days I saw it first (wilhichnwas about four days ago)

I bought this recently, have found this to be the cheapest per kg for plain unflavoured NZ whey protein at $86.99 per 5lb, so about $39 per kg.

I noticed that the reduced to clear stores often have protein powders being sold very cheaply. Some don't taste the best, but not too bad.

  • I like Zeland; it's a very good price. Vanilla tastes what you expect, the Chocolate one is ok. I brought it by mistake. Turns out, its nice. From PaknSave. $29 1KG bags. I travel a lot and also buy the travel packs from nothing naughty.
