Hi there, saw this kind of mentioned the the low quantity thread, but when a user clicks on the thread topic, it should take them to the most recent or last post, like how other forums function?
Currently by default it takes you to post 1 on page 1
Not sure if this has been discussed already but wondered if it could be implemented (as optional or not) across all forum threads?
Forum Threads Opening to Last Page/Comment by Default
Comments

Oh learnt something new today thanks! Just tested it and it works for most threads.
This thread in particular for some reason shows 19 new, and when i click new it takes me to the end of the thread with no 'new' tagged comments. Is this right?

The discrepancy is caused by calculating which ones are "new".
We store the last time you read a post, up to 90 days (if I remember correctly, need to check the code). However for posts that you have not looked at for a while, we actually don't remember when was the last time you looked at it so there was an assumption of 90 days — that's how xx number of new comments was calculated.
However when you actually clicked through to the post, since we did not have record of last time you read the post, all the comments will appear as already-read.
It's a bug that has been there for a while that I meant to fix some day…

Oh i see. Thank you for the explanation and the prompt response!

I think it would make more sense to go to the last page by default, and if someone wants to click the 'New' button (if they see it), they can still do that instead.
For threads with lots of pages, the last page it significantly more likely to be useful than the first.
If you click on "New" tag next to the number of comments, it will bring you to the first new comment that has been posted since your last visit to the post. Not necessarily the last comment, but as comments are threaded so always opening the last page might not be desirable.
