90% off First Month Unlimited Mobile Plan: Rocket (10Mbps) $4 (Then $40/M), Rocket+ (40Mbps) $4.50 (Then $45/M) @ Rocket Mobile

190

I was looking for a mobile deal while waiting for the BOGOF Kogan deal, and I have recently run out of data. Came across this plan from Rocket Mobile, and it seems super decent. I went with the eSIM option and was able to get it activated via the online QR code straight away and activate the plan.

There are two plans available for the 90% off:

  • Rocket $4/Month - Unlimited Data at 10Mbps
  • Rocket Plus $4.5/Month - Unlimited Data at 40Mbps

Unsure when this deal will end.

T&C:

Spring Sale available for a limited time only. Discount applies to our monthly Rocket & Rocket Plus plans for 1 billing cycle, then reverts to regular price. Get Rocket for $4, and Rocket Plus for $4.50 for your first month when you activate during the offer period. New accounts only. Does not stack with Group Plan discount or Refer a Friend offer. Offer is not transferable for cash, and will not apply if your plan lapses.

Am I correct in thinking you can sign for the first month only and then cancel before the full pricing kicks in?

    • Looks that way.

    • That’s correct, you can cancel the auto-renew straight away

  • (Any Cheapies in the know as to when they (Rocket) likely to close this offer ?. 😉. As they saying that date will be the their offer plan "activate by or lose it" date).

The Telsim deal is still active, you would have to order one soon though as they have to be activated by the end of month.

Ok I've been doing abit of basic snooping around Rocket Mobile's website….🤔, and to my surprise I came across this page with the full conditions for this "Spring Sale". (https://help.rocketmobile.co.nz/en/articles/12286388-spring-…). It states there clearly that this offer "ends October 15th", (thou yes they could extend that date I suppose…?). So if that date holds, then it would be must activate by / on October 15th, and your offer low cost monthly plan ends just a month later November 15th at the latest. Hmmm…

      Good find!

      Close but no cigar!
This is MORE clearly "You’ll have to activate your new plan by 11:59pm 14 October 2025 to be eligible."
Hidden under the script in the FAQs! )-:

        Time extended:
"Our Spring Sale offer period runs from 15 September to 11:59pm 22 October 2025."

    • The gift that keeps giving
"You’ll have to activate your new plan by 11:59pm 31 October 2025 to be eligible."

      • Still alive
"You’ll have to activate your new plan by 11:59pm 9 Nov 2025 to be eligible."

        • Have extended the expiry now

  • Sim took all of 2days to arrive, Auck'. Still nothing from Telsim after 3 odd weeks!

    • Just got my Telsim letter today after 7 days!

  • Lucky promo extended as I went to activate last night at the last minute & there was no nano sim in the packet. So couldn't complete activation & I had stayed up late just for that! ROFL

  • Has any Cheapies tried Kiwi mobile? I heard it from someone 2 months ago as they do a similar promotion as Rocket mobile (unlimited data at specific speed).

    • +1

Yep, signed up and tried to port my number from Kogan Mobile, when Kiwi Mobile did their new Kiwi Mobile startup promo super deal. It was an absolute night mate as it took weeks to get them to fix up their hopelessly buggy not functioning mobile phone network connection and number porting. After weeks they finally sorted it out, but as soon as I could I went back to Kogan Mobile l, with half of someone's Kogan Mobile BOGOFF purchase deal.

  • Which network does this use? How's the latency? WAnt to use it for gaming where latency but mobility matter.

Anyone do a SpeedTest latency test, please?

    • Ok found it it uses One.NZ or Vodafone but not sure if like MVNO in Australia is limited (besides the stated mbps data speed limits).

  • Call me old fashioned but $40 a month is a lot to spend on a mobile plan. I guess if you need service for a month it's good…

    • Is it though? I mean what did they charge for a telecom copper telephone line/mnth back in the day (wasn't it something like $33?), and that's with no data and if you wanted to call the rellies in Auz they would charge you an arm and a leg for some crappy line with heaps of lag & echo!! And having a cordless phone that worked at the back of the section was really something! That being said, yeah personally I usually just use these deals & surf on to the next so I appreciate the OP's posting them.
Will be activating this one tonight. LAST DAY! (unless they extend again :-)

      • Kogan prepay is $5 for the first month with no speed restriction (15Gb Data). I think I'd prefer this to a speed capped unlimited. https://www.kogan.com/nz/buy/kogan-mobile-prepay-mobile-star…

        • My thoughts on Kogan's business practices aren't really printable, all I can say is go into it eyes wide open, document & screenshot everything & request email confirmation for any assurances given by support! I shudder to think how many people they have caught in their honey traps & stress they have caused the unwary.
Each to their own, for me speed is not that important compared to quantity and I haven't found Kogan speeds to be any improvement the majority of real world time.
I would have to work hard to stretch 15GB over a month & all that spam makes me fat!
But at least that offer is a long term one & useful if your careful.
The OP's rocket mobile deal is still going.
