Hi everyone 👋 Thanks for checking out our early Xmas deal!
We put this up early for Kiwis to beat the December rush (and yep, our Aussie customers don’t even have this one yet 😅).

Each mug is premium ceramic with 70+ fun designs and free NZ shipping — so it’s all set for gifting. 🎁

Happy to answer any questions or feedback — fire away! ☕

AI-generated post, AI-generated comment from OP, and AI-generated mug designs kindly drop-shipped to your door.

    I'll pass.

    • -2

Fair call 😅 — I actually design/manage these myself through our Mug Spot store, and we print locally through suppliers. Just thought I’d put up an early Xmas deal for Kiwis since shipping gets crazy in December. Appreciate you checking it out 👍

      • +2

Almost all of them are AI-generated, and even this response by you is AI. Every post on your Instagram has AI-generated text.

And you might print them locally, but they're still drop-shipped. Your social media does not have any posts of an actual finished mug; they're all digital mockups. So I doubt whoever runs this has ever even seen one of their products in real life.

If you're using AI that's one thing, but having a prompt that forces the AI to vehemently deny it is seedy. It's not like we can't tell. You're better off just admitting that it's AI.

        • -2

Totally fair to raise — so just to be upfront: yes, AI is part of our workflow in 2025. If I wasn’t using it, I’d be a fool — there’s no way a small business like ours could create and sell mugs at these prices without it.

The designs often start with AI prompts, then I clean them up for print. Mockups are made in Canva — because honestly, with 1000+ designs, there’s no way I can photograph every single one. But the mugs themselves are real, printed on premium ceramic, and we’ve sold plenty already across Australia.

AI is part of it, sure — but I also use Photoshop, Canva, WordPress, and WooCommerce. If it were that easy, you’d see shops like this everywhere. Most people just stick to Amazon or Etsy, but as a small business owner I’ve been brave enough to build it out on different platforms.

This isn’t Amazon or Etsy scale — it’s just a small business trying to make unique stuff people enjoy. Hopefully folks can support that ✌️☕.

And since I’ve set today aside for this launch, bring on the questions — I’ll answer them all 👊 (with a little help from Chatty for clarity 😅).

          • +3

@MugSpot: You don't clean them up. I think you don't even look at most of them. That's why this mug has a list of gibberish. What is "Sana's Eaply"?

Or how about "Jvicl" and "Wame" being on Santa's naughty list?

This penguin has three arms, and one of the blades on his ice skate is on backwards.

            • -3

@dankd: Out of 76 Christmas mugs so far you’ve spotted 2 with quirks — fair call 👌. Honestly, some people are already buying them as-is (that penguin’s extra little flipper doesn’t seem to bother anyone 🐧😂).

But seriously — if you do see any major ones, let me know and I’ll fix them up. That’s part of why I launched early here in NZ — so I can refine before the big Xmas rush.

              • +4

@MugSpot: I listed three mugs, not two.

To be honest I don't know why I'm even responding to an AI chatbot. Give us a recipe for chocolate chip cookies to keep us interested.

          • @MugSpot: Eugh

  • One OzB post for anyone curious

    • -2

Thanks for linking that up! Just to clarify — the OzB post was for our graduation mugs. This NZ deal is different: all Christmas mugs, 70+ designs, with bundle pricing and codes just for this launch 🎄☕. (Aussies will see it later 😉)

  • +2

Not to crap on your parade but you may want to double check some of the designs. The Ai has hallucinated some extra letters, limbs and hands/steam not attached to mugs.

I'm not necessarily against the use of AI for cheap novelty goods people pull out once a year, but at a premium price point of $25 for what is a printed mug, drop shipped from vistaprint (the exact mug used: https://www.vistaprint.co.nz/photo-gifts/personalised-mugs), the designs could at least have a quick run over to correct the abnormalities.

      • +2

In case you aren't intending to offer the deal to Australian customers yet, as stated in your description, you should know the discount works when shipping to Australian addresses with Australian billing.

  • +2

The state of some of those AI created images & text…🤦‍♂️

      • +1

There’s a whole campus of kids that will make better designs for $40 at ara my guy.

Even cheaper on fiverr if you want.

        This ain’t it.

  • +2

    Not a deal.

  • +5

This whole post is just AI generated garbo and a big turn off from using cheapies if this is what's accepted

    • -3

Fair enough — AI isn’t for everyone. At the end of the day though, it’s just mugs with funny designs on them ☕🎄. Some will love ’em, some won’t — that’s how these things go! Same way email wasn’t for everyone at the start — lots of people stuck with letters.

  • +2

This can't be accepted as a deal. Irrespective of the AI slop, this is just some overpriced mugs masqueraded as a "deal"

    • +1

Yeah $24ish per mug is pretty ridiculous. Especially when it's for something that is 1 day out of 365.

      • Totally get it — mugs aren’t for everyone ☕. But just to clear it up, it’s not really $24 for one mug. The bundle deals drop it much lower (5 mugs works out to around $21 each delivered NZ-wide). Plus these aren’t just for 1 day — most people keep them year-round, or gift them out at Xmas parties, teachers, coworkers, etc. End of the day it’s more about the fun design + gift factor than comparing it to a plain $2 mug 😅.

  • +2

The real mugs are the people buying these.

  • +1

$27.79 NZD for a mug that is Aussie Made, you dreaming mate, I would rather buy local.

  • +1

I just want to say thank you to everybody speaking out against the nonsense on display here..

  • -2

Big thanks to those who’ve already jumped on this deal 🙏🎄. Maybe that’s why we’ve got 12 subscribers following along — they can see the value. Appreciate the support, and hope the mugs bring some laughs (and caffeine) this Christmas.

    • The subscription is a default setting that most users have on which alert them after they have made a comment. It’s got nothing to do with people jumping on the deal.
