Deals Week: ToolShed 5L Fuel Can $14, ToolShed Garden Drill Auger 100mm $21 & More + Del. ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ The Tool Shed

150

I picked up some items from this sale specifically

  • Drill Auger $21 down from $49.90 (whereas bunnings is $87 or a smaller one at bunnings $50) I am aiming to use this to plant ~300 natives
  • Clamps 600mm $49.90 discounted to $22.46 (craft right brand is cheaper at bunnings but these are 'heavy duty' hopefully translates to 'decent'. I've had hit and miss experience with craft right in the past. One review says they hold briefly and then slowly loosen.)

I might actually grab the fuel can too, I bought my last 5L one from Stihl for $25 and the toolshed is 5L for $14

  • We use our 100mm drill auger for planting, it’s fantastic!

  • Great deal but man, that's a HUGE auger for a drill. Surely a normal drill couldn't handle that.

With that being said, I'm going to get one as I have a spare impact wrench that wouldn't matter if it burned out.

    • That's what my Ozito is for. It has handled augers okay

    • I'm not really an expert but I have relatively high end makita hammer drill and impact driver so we'll see… Going to collect it Thursday as I'm 40min from their store

  • Could have done with that auger bit a while ago! Great find, have bought to future proof myself in case the wife wants more planting. Many thanks for highlighting OP!

    • Enjoy! I have a typical gorse ridden hillside in Wellington so I couldn't imagine digging 300 holes to replant and the auger looks good on YouTube just need to go careful so it doesn't bite and twist a wrist

      • That's what your torque settings are for!

  • Just picked up an auger, after some basic gardening nearly killed me in the front garden I said never again. Now we can consider actually adding plants out the back.

    • Awesome! I'm sure it'll be helpful. If the soil is hard people suggest doing it a day after rainfall too

      • Its more clay than soil, once we got through the stop soil I was having to really go to town with a shovel to get through it. Took 2 days to plant about 12 plants. Tried it in the garden yesterday and go through it, but like you said above be careful with the snap if it catches.

I'll make sure I use it with my cheapo Bunnings drill that very rarely gets used.
